Ok I am sorry to ask this and I know all of you vets are probably tired of answering it, especially since really there is no way of knowing. However i am throwing in my own question. Thanks in advance!

We just bought at BLT this year on our trip to WDW. We did not tell my family we did it because we wanted to surprise them with a trip to Disney in 2011 for Christmas. Now me and my DH love BLT but I know my mom and dad especially would rather go someplace like Wilderness Lodge. We would probably go around the first or second week in December (my DH cannot actually get off around Christmas). So what do you think our chances are?

We already plan on booking the vacation at BLT then seeing about switching but I dont want to suggest it to my parents and then get their hopes down.

Thanks bunches!!:cool1:

I wouldn't suggest it to them until you call at the 7-month window and make the change. It will not likely be open when you call at the 7 month window. But the waitlist probably has a 50-50 chance of coming through.

You have an almost zero chance of getting WL for the first two weeks of December - or anytime in December. Its a lovely Christmas resort and many owners at VWL bought specifically to use their points at that time of year.

Just as the OP stated i would book the days you want at BLT and at 7 months move my reservation. You will be suprised if you call at opening of member services on the day of the seventh month you may just get what you want. We had no trouble getting a pre cruise stay this year in Dec. and we own at SSR. Good Luck!:thumbsup2

I agree, this time of year is probably the most busiest for this small DVC resort. The first 2 weeks of December are that one time a year that is not a holiday, but booking at 11 months is a must. Whenever I stay this time a year, I book one of my 3 homes and am always glad I did. Sorry OP, though you should certainly try.

I concur with the others. VWL is a very popular resort in December (and small). However, it costs nothing to try and even less to waitlist. Book BLT and then go for it at 7 months.

If you really wanted VWL for sure and were willing to pay a little for it, you could contact Daddio and rent points there (don't wait long - he'll want to set you up with something in January), then have him rent YOUR BLT points. You'll end up out of pocket for the profit he takes - but probably not too much since VWL are cheaper point wise than most BLT rooms.

(Early December is a tough time in general, not just a VWL. BWV and BCV fill up fast as well. Your best bet is home. You can usually get OKW or SSR IF you are prompt about calling (but not treehouse villas) and VAKL is large enough that there might be a better chance.)

Thanks everyone! I will just go ahead and book at BLT as planned once we all pick the exact dates. I will check at 7 month mark and if I get lucky I will let my family know but if not I know they will all still be excited.

Thank you so much for your help!!!

Pay attention to the points. BLT will probably cost you more in points and you don't want to get into a situation of downgrading and getting stuck with points that can't be banked. Same thing if you have to borrow to make the initial reservation---MS is supposed to use the borrowed points first when re-booking but they sometimes make a mistake.

PS. Welcome Home!!!
