Hi everyone. I know this question has been asked by many people about the DDP being worth it. We are getting married at WDW in 2 months and will be there for about a week. We have never used the dining plan. I was doing some quick math with some of our reservations and some of the usual things we eat when we have gone in the past. It's about $100 difference. (DDP more) Of course some of this is me guessing. I guess my question is being that it's our honeymoon would it be worth it for peace of mind just to get the plan in case we eat more, and not have to worry about budgeting a certain amount for food? What would you guys do? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I would do it. It's prepaid and you won't have to worry about it . We always do the DDP or DxDDp and to me the peace of mind that we have everything paid and can order what we want and not worry about the price is priceless.

For me it is the opposite. I fear spending money on the plan, then not having the option to eat light if I want, or if I'm not feeling 100% one day, and wasting my money.

What I do is plan out what I think I'll be eating then add about $200 to it, just for the unplanned "Oooh, that looks yummy, detour!" :goodvibes.

I put this on a gift card and use that for all my meals. So it is still "pre-paid". Sometimes I use travelers checks and put the cash on my room to use against/charging to key card.

The gift cards don't expire, so if anything left I can use on next trip. But I've been pretty good at ballparking the costs. And if it was cash/key card then you get it back when you check out.

And congratulations!:wizard:

We always look at the*menu's of where we will be going and plan out everything. That way we know if the DDP will be worth it or not (it always has been for us) It's nice to know that everything is paid for and that you don't have to carry around lots of cash to pay for things out of pocket.

If the plan costs more than I would spend I wouldn't get it. Only you can determine if your perception of the convenience of the plan trumps the extra cost you might pay if you purchase it. You can get the same "prepayment" effect by putting money on a Disney gift card and using it to pay for meals (if you don't go to any Swan/Dolphin restaurants but you wouldn't be doing those on the dining plan either). And if you don't spend the amount on the gift card, you can use it for other things, which you can't do with DDP.

RUMOR has it free dining is going to be extended. Should know something definite this week, so why not wait and see if it is offered for the week you will be there. It will mean you will lose any resort discount, but it might be worth it.

Based on the OP's ticker, she'll be there in September, which is already free dining, and while you can book thru August 27, I would imagine that there's not a lot of availability left at this point.

If it's just two adults, if they're staying at a deluxe resort, and if they already have a room discount, free dining may not be the best deal for them anyway. They may be better off just taking a room discount and buying the plan if they want it.

For me the dining plan does not work. I ran the numbers and I can do it cheaper OOP plus even with the DP I still have OOP expenses and I don't want that much dessert! lol

OP-are you doing a Disney wedding? If so are you getting a free AP? If you are using an AP you can buy a Tables in Wonderland card for $75 and you get 20% off food and beverages, including alcoholic, at many places. I am a Florida resident so I can also buy one, although my cost is $100, so I am doing that. You would need to spend $375 at participating restaurants to break even.
