I know the first thing DD is gonna want to know, is there a shopping mall in close proximity to Disneyland!

Hey A Girl's Gotta Shop!LOL

TIA

The Main Place in Santa Ana is probably the closest. It's a pretty nice mall, though I haven't been for a while.

to take a cab without breaking the bank?

I thought they had a shuttle to/from the DL area hotels, but I don't see that mentioned here:

You might give them a call to find out for sure. We go there from time to time just for the food court and Olive Garden restaurant, not to mention the two - count em - two cookie places!

Probably just as close would be The Block in the City of Orange. It is an outdoor mall (with a Krispy Kreme in the parking lot!!) However, Main Place is more mallish and is much bigger.

I wouldn't know about cabs, but you can get there via OCTA--the Orange County Transportation Authority, aka the bus and that's only about a dollar each way (including transfers unless they've changed things). I used to ride those buses all the time when I went to college down there. Yeah, they take awhile, but they get you there.
South Coast Plaza is nice, but very expensive (and w/ the US/Canadian exchange rate in the US's favor, it's super expensive for Canadians). I don't have to worry about that and I still won't shop there.

There's the Block at Orange, which is an outdoor shopping plaza. There's also a Target on the corner of Chapman and Harbor.

We like to venture down to San Diego and shop at the Carlsbad Factory Stores. Awesome shopping there with Skechers, Gap, Coach, Tommy Hilfiger, etc. stores.

We may just have to arrive a day earlier to enjoy the shopping!

It's a good thing I have a year and a half to save!LOL

I don't know. We would love to but I'm not sure if we can spare the time.

I'll let you know if we decide.

I would like to come to California to DisneyLand though::yes::

Happy planning.:bounce:

I vote for South Coast Plaza. It's HUGE! It also has a Rainforest Cafe which will have little to no wait unlike the one at Downtown Disney. There is also a bridge to connect it with another shopping mall across the street which use to be called Crystal Court. I think they are now calling it South Coast Plaza as well so that it seems to be all one.
