I admit it. Those "As Seen On TV" gadgets fascinate me. They make them seem like the best thing since sliced bread and you HAVE to have them.

Lucky for me I don't like to order things over the phone - I want it in my hand before I buy it. Now they have these "As Seen On TV" stores and even places like Target and CVS are selling them.

What have you tried? Was it as good as the commercial or was it a complete flop?

I've been wanting to try the pasta pot where you don't need a strainer. I did buy one of those black trays a long time ago that you run under hot water for a couple of minutes and you can defrost frozen meat on it in under 10 minutes. It did work but for some reason I stopped using it. I guess it was just easier to put the frozen stuff in the fridge before I left for work to defrost :)

I don't know, but those whisk turner over thingies look pretty cool. Funny you should start this thread. I was just in CVS yesterday and there were all those things we like to poke fun at!!!

My ds saw the Perfect Pancake maker advertised on tv. When we saw it in Walmart, he had to have it. It does ok, but I like my non-stick skillet better. When my ds sees the box, he yells he wants a pancake, so I make him one, then he gets mad at me. He actually wants the fried eggs that are pictured on the box.:teeth: I don't know why he thinks they're pancakes too though.

My Father in Law is positively ADDICTED to all those gadgets. All of us kids (his kids and spouses and significant others) take turns buying him the 'hot' gadget of the year.

I admit, I bought the Donut Express and we LOVE it!!

I try not to bake with sugar and we use mixes that have no refined sugar in them. I thought making sugar free donuts would be a cool alternative and it worked great.

They come out like cake donuts and they're delicious and so much more interesting than the common square.

I almost bought that whisk thingy at Target yesterday, it's $9.95 for two of them, but I didn't.

Now for the pasta strainer pot, I do have one of those. But, it's not the cheapy ones from the TV ads, that comes with 2 plus gadgets. I got it at Target, in the regular cookware area, about 2 years ago. It's blue, and the brand starts with a B (italian sounding name). I believe it was $29.99 and worth every penny! I absolutely love it, it works wonderful. I wish that brand would make a smaller one though, because I'd love to have one for mac and cheese and smaller stuff, but oh well.

I have the Perfect Pancake Maker - NOT! I also have the set of two whisk/spatula things and I do love those. They work great for everything.

I have the omelet maker. It's not too bad, but if you use more than 2 or 3 eggs it leaks out through the sides. It's great for a one person omelet.

I love george... he's my fav buddy. I work about 5 mins from home, and sometimes I go home for lunch. It's so nice to be able to just "george" a chicken breast... 10mins later... voila... grilled chix sandwich! Yumm

That's about the only thing I've bought off infomercial. All hail to the George!

:bounce: :bounce: Going to see MICKEY tomorrow:bounce: :bounce:

Funny because I just bought those leg massagers for MIL. She's always saying how much her legs hurt so I thought I'd give them a try. I'll let you know after Christmas because this way I can always return them if she doesn't like them.

Don't buy the hand held sewing machine. It doesn't work worth a darn! I took it back to WalMart the next day.

I think that's about the only one we've tried.

One word:

Epilady

The Epilady worked great, if you had some morphine to take before using it. The Epilady DID remove hair, as promised. It's just that the "slight tingling sensation" referred to in the advertising was the horrible agony of having the hair yanked out by the roots.

Uhhh, lets see, I've had a few other experiences with "as seen on TV" products (you think I would have stopped w/the Epilady). I sprung for the "Edgemaster" paint roller that's supposed to prevent you from having to mask around trim and doorways. You're just supposed to be able to wheel this little baby around all that stuff and have the plastic guard protecting your trim.

Worthless piece of crap. Sometimes it "almost" works but it still leaves a 1/8" gap between the new paint on the roller and the trim, as the guard is about 1/8" thick. So, you see a stripe of the old color sticking through.

Most of the time the paint slops up onto, and under the guard, and of course runs all over the trim that you were trying to avoid painting.

It's garbage. At least it was only $9.99 at Home Depot.

One product that I do like that my friend bought me is called the Chef's Stirrer. What you do is put it in your saucepan, and it automatically stirs for you. I was forever burning rissotto and other things that need to be stirred constantly, the Chef's Stirrer actually has prevented me from doing that. All hail the Chef's Stirrer! :)

Robin.......could I PLEASE have your dougnut recipe?!?!!!:wave2:

Snoopy, I bought the Epilady too. I think it was the last time I ever cried like a little girl. :headache:

I have been wanting to buy the Pasta Pot too, I gave MIL enough hints, so maybe I'll get it for Christmas.

Oh I love as seen on TV. Has anyone tried one of those Turbo cookers. You know the ones you can put frozen foods and stuff and presto and cooks the meal?

PS I love my George Foreman grill.

I got the butt and thigh roller, and love it. I do it about 10 minutes every weekday morning, and am quite toned. Of course, I does nothing for my upper body, but my butt and thighs are looking great.

I love my Foreman grill too.

Well....I must like pain then because I used my Epilady all the time & after about one year, my leg hairs NEVER GREW BACK!!! My legs are soft as a baby's with no stubble & I probably will never have to shave again!! EVER!!! It's been about 15 years since I've shaved my legs!! (I can't believe I'm being so public about something so private!!!  ) I would buy the Epilady again & I would recommend it to anyone who's brave enough to use it!!

I have the black defrosting tray and use it all the time. It doesn't quite work as quickly as they said in the ad but it does speed up the process.

I used to use the epilady but stopped.

The George Foreman Contact Roaster is a piece of crap.

I actually use a mix from the health food store. They are for brownies but you can adapt it to cookies or cake.

Can't remember the name of it right now but I'll get it for you. They are HARD to find especially this time of year. Anyone who tastes them are HOOKED!

I bought a Hairdini- its like a scrunchie with a wire in it, and you are supposed to make all different hairdos with it. It came with a "how to" video. It was really dumb!

I also had a "Topsy Tail"- remember those?

Robin, does that recipe have white flour in it? I wish I could find a way to make sugar free donuts that don't contain white flour.

I have the George Foreman grill and I love it. I also have the dehydrators sold by Ron Popeil. I love making jerky using that, I can make sugar free jerky and it's 0 carbs.

That's all I've ever bought as "seen on tv"
