Is it okay to assume that as more resorts open the higher the capacity will get? I mean logically it makes sense. At least to me it does.

I think it might work in reverse....in that, as people return and increase the numbers looking for accommodations, then more resorts would open.

It means more people on property, but I'm not sure it means higher capacity in the parks. Historically, I understood the on-site resorts accounted for a smaller portion of parks capacity on any given day; most theme-park guests are off-site.

Also I'm not sure the currently-open resorts are anywhere near full-occupancy -- at least not the cash side. Much of what is currently open is DVC, and WDW may be trying to shift more of that inventory back to DVC by opening more room on the hotel side of the business.

Disney hasn't really released the capacity numbers. It's assumed they are operating at capacity below what they are allowed to.

Opening AoA and All Stars shows they plan to pack in some numbers IMO.

I expect resort hotel and park decisions are exclusive of one another. Each has its own labor and operating costs to balance.

Currently, ~55% of cash room inventory is open for business. None of us know who much of that is sold, but I guess the room inventory would need to approach consistently 80-100% pre-sold to justify staffing up another resort in a price category.

The parks will increase capacity whenever and however they deem they can increase it safely and in a way to maximize revenue to break even.

That said, all this speculation is probably better off in the Rumors section.

Not necessarily especially when you consider not everyone that stays in a resort visits the parks and not everyone that visits the parks stays in a WDW resort. Only more resorts will open when there’s demand for resort stays. Right now there’s really not and if they can pack guests into the resorts they already have opened and operating, my suspicion is Disney won’t want to open more resorts unless they can fill it. They don’t want half empty resorts because they’ll still have to pay to staff them.
