...it's now the place where my boyfriend (make that fiance!) proposed!!!
But I'm getting ahead of myself....
Cast: Me, 25, Disney addict from way back. Greg, 29, first-time Disneygoer, and, apparently, well-researched on the topic in light of his fabulous secret plans!
9/19/01 Departed BWI on a 7:40AM flight. Got there at 5:30AM. Line for Southwest is miles long. No, really, it was. We waited to check in for about 45 minutes. However, thereafter, the airport was dead and we breezed through without a single bag being opened (convenient, yes, but not reassuring). About 30-35 people on our flight. Only two people appeared to be under age 18. Weird for an Orlando flight.
Arrived at MCO, our bags were waiting by the time we got to baggage claim. Picked up the car (ugh, a taupe-colored, stinky-smelling Dodge Neon...they claim they have no non-smoking cars because "they can't stop people from smoking in the cars".) Anyway....after a quick stop at Publix on 192 for some groceries, we arrive at ASsp. Hooray! It's sunny as can be outside!
Although it was only 11:30, our room was ready. We checked in in about 5 minutes, got all our room preferences. We were in building 7 (Touchdown Hotel). The room was small, but clean. No complaints.
Drove over to MK, because I wanted to take a monorail ride
Also wanted to stay for the Electric Water Pageant. Despite the fact that it's 1PM, we park in the first lot. No tram is even running. Monorail to the MK. We start in Fantasy Land, b/c Greg loves Winnie the Pooh. He comes out of the ride saying "again, again!" We move to Tomorrow land, riding Space Mtn. first. Waited maybe 4 minutes. Then did Buzz, CoP, TTA ("Paging Mr. Morrow...Mr. Tom Morrow...." hee hee hee) and the Speedway. Caught the last bit of the last showing of "remember the magic" parade. Then we hit Splash Mt. and BT Mtn. (No waits at all). basically, we did all of the park except for the Tiki Room, Jungle Cruise, and Treehouse, in a span of 5.5 hours. That's how slow it was.
Exhausted by the time the park closed at 7....we took the monorail to the GF, where we split a pizza at Gasparilla Grill. It was looking like rain, and we were nowhere near awake enough to stick around for the water pageant. Drove back to ASsp and crashed.
