Yesterday I stumbled upon an artist signing event at the Gallery at the top of Main Street (across from City Hall). When I walked in, there were a number of Disney paintings on display and a considerable line of guests. I spoke with a CM and she explained that Disney artist Dirk Wunderlich was doing a signing of a number of his works. Apparently this is something they do regularly l however I’ve never seen it.

Generally, crowds were good in the morning. I met up with a good friend and her family who was visiting the park for four days, which was really nice. I think towards the end of their trip they didn’t much mind having to board the plane today ;-). I’ve felt that way many times at the end of a visit to NYC.

Buzz scores were kind of broken in the morning. For my first few rides, regardless of what I hit, my score would only be around 4,700. Later, though, they seemed to work again. On my last ride, I grabbed 1,981,000. Ad often happens, I was unhappy with that score because I could have broken 2M but I lost track of my mental count. Oh well.

Just a few pics this time. I’ve got map sets if anyone would like one mailed to them. Simply DM me.

ETA: Met a nice mom and her daughters visting from Dallas at the rope and we helped them to make the line for PP. We were first from the rope and I wanted to give them our spot so they'd be first but it was my friend's bday and she really wanted it for herself, which was fair. What was particularly interesting was that this woman was a federal judge (found out during our discussion while in line for PP). She went to Harvard for law school. I was suitably impressed.

Pics.

How funny that you didn't know about artist signings. That's one of our favorite things. The artists sign at Disneyana, Off the Page and Wunderground.

We had a friend from out of town visiting on Sunday. We arrived before 8 am, but it took well over an hour to park. We tried for Mickey & Friends and were diverted to Pixar Pals. Look at the line up of cars on the right side off ramp compared to the left.

We parked, and then were met with this horrible crowd waiting to get past security. Security looked to be fully staffed, so we couldn't figure out what he problem was. Fortunately, after we got through security, we literally walked onto the trams. The trams were leaving half empty. Did you encounter this?20230723_085500.jpg

When we walked into the park, there was a long line for the Mickey flower display (not sure if it has a name). The line wrapped under the tunnel. We were prepared for a very crowded day, but the weather was so bad (hot, humid, rainy) that I think a lot of locals left.

My point of this long story is that we went on Buzz around lunch time. I was super excited to see the leaderboard with ROB at the top. I felt like I had spotted a celebrity! 🤣 I am still kicking myself for not taking a picture.

On a side note, did you hear about the Columbia having an accident mid day yesterday? Both Mark Twain and Columbia were closed (as was Indy for 3/4 of the day) and we wondered if it was because of the weather. Later, someone told us that the Columbia broke down.

Yikes! That's some serious backup. I usually drive into the parking structure at around 6:40. Facing the kind of lines in your pics would drive me nuts. I meet friends on Sundays who arrive much earlier than I do and they're nearly always the first into the structure and park.

Wow, that's pretty intense. I've never seen a line that long for the center display pic. Yeah, it was definitely a bit sticky yesterday. It was high humidity for SoCal but I'm a Chicago native and it's much worse there, so this still wasn't too bad. In fact, the heat is one of the main reasons that I didn't visit Chicago for the Fourth this year. But I'll definitely be back in early October. I may even tack on a few days in NYC, my favorite city in the world.

Love this :-). I'm still a little disappointed that I didn't break 2M. As I said, I lost count :-(.

Definitely didn't hear about that. But I did know about IJ. A friend and her family were in town and they wanted to ride it on their last day (they rode it earlier in their trip) and it seemed to be down whenever we checked.

Great to see you this weekend, Rob!

We were in the parks Thursday to Sunday, and being from Texas, the weather yesterday was pretty heavenly to us! So funny, different perspectives! It felt so cool and the overcast kept it that way. I think it was a little bit humid, but nothing like here in Dallas!

As for crowds, we thought these were some of the lowest we have ever seen. We often go in October or on school holidays, so we typically see very high crowds, long lines and congested walkways. We used G+ to the max, mobile ordered just about everything, did resort guest EE and had an amazing trip. I don’t think we have seen lower crowds except for when we came for the opening week or two of Galaxy’s Edge (when everyone was scared off by presumed crowds!). I have no idea why there was such a crowd to get in for @LKing?? I hope you still had a great day!!

Likewise and always! It's great to spend time with you and your family. Everyone is so positive and kind. It's inspiring :-).

And nothing like the humidity back in Chicago. I have to remind myself of that and be thankful for what I do have, weather-wise.

Yes, yesterday was certainly reasonable crowd-wise. Yet another blessing.

I hope you still had a great day!!
Thanks! I had a wonderful day! Hope you all get some rest before the grind reasserts its grip ;-).
