My husband and I are going on our second Disney trip in September. We have built in some "down time" this trip. Our first day we are not going to the park and I'm torn between Artist Point or Narcoossee's for our dinner on the first night. Both places have mixed reviews. Help! Already have Citrico's and California Grill booked for other nights.

Artist Point, do you and yours like Pacific Northwest food like venison, buffalo, mussels, veal, maybe filet mignon and wines from Washington and Oregon states? Artist Point has a view of the Wildness Lodge pool and Bay Lake through the trees about 300-400 yards way. My wife is from Montana and she loves the lodge and grounds of Wilderness Lodge.

Narcoossee's, whole Maine lobster, surf and turf with lobster tail, scallops, filet, and California wines- better wine list in my opinion here. You sit on Four Seas Lagoon just above the water level on a point between Grande Floridian Buildings and across the water from Magic Kingdom, can watch Wishes from your seat if there during the show.

Me, in my opinion, Narcoossees is 3rd or 4th and Artist Point about 6th or 7th in Signature dinning.

Wow, i am the first person who is going to vote Artist Point? Ok, well here is why:
1). LOVE the food. I've gone twice. The first time i ordered the Smoky Portobello Soup (AMAZING!!!! I love this item!), and the cedar plant roasted Salmon (So good, one of the best entrees i've had in any disney--or non disney for that matter--restaurant), and the berry cobbler for dessert (so yummy and the berries were super fresh). Second time i did the Penn Cove Muscles (Very nice, i like the soup better though :)), the Airline Chicken Breast (So nice, not too dry, not to wet... just right!), and the dessert was the apple tart (very very good. simple, but good). All in all some of the very best meals i have ever had. This restaurant has great food.
2. Although this restaurant is a signature restaurant, i find that the prices are fair (for disney at lest :)), and the food is well worth the price.
3. The atmosphere is just adult enough that it is relaxing but not uptight. Also the decor is BEAUTIFUL. I would describe it as wilderness meats the vineyard of france meets my backyard. Sounds like an odd combo, but it creates a homey but sophisticated and very beautiful look around the restaurant.
4. I find that this restaurant creates a great atmosphere for talking, so if you want to have a good conversation you can.
5. The service is great! I know all disney restaurants have great service, but i find that here i have had particularly great servers!

These are all just my own opinions, either restaurant you will LOVE. Artist point is my favorite and if you don't try it this time, you should sometime because it is amazing! Hope this helped!

My vote is for Narcoossees!:thumbsup2
1 - I prefer seafood over steak/meat.
2 - I just LOVE watching the MK fireworks from Narcoossee's deck. The soundtrack is piped in right over your head - so you can actually HEAR the words. Perfect!

Plus California Grill has the same view as Narcoossees (only a little better in my opinion), so i would try soemthing new!

Decoded to go with Artist Point! Going to California Grill, Citrico's and Brown Derby so I thought the Wilderness Lodge would be a great place to start our vacation! Thanks for the input.

The food was one of the worse we had during stay at Disney last week. The lobster tail was VERY chewy and Dh wasn't impressed by his filet either. We both agreed it wasn't for us.

am I the only one not impressed?:confused3

We go to Brown Derby every time we visit and I have to say that I think it is one of the few signature restaurants that has IMPROVED over the last few years. Our last visit was in January of this year and the steak I had there was better than the one I had at the California Grill. If you haven't eaten there recently, you might want to give it another chance.
