2 Adults. Arrived shortly after opening.

I think it was earlier this year we ate there and DH talked for days about his Berkshire porkchop. And I loved their mac n cheese and was so happy it could be ordered as a side.
Well -- both are gone. :sad1:

AP chef is now the chef who was at Coral Reef. (When I heard that I was tempted to ask if chef could whip me up some mushroom lasagna that I loved so well at CR. :rotfl2:Which explains the demise of the mushroom lasagna at CR.)

Of course our meal was still really good and not a disappointment at all. :thumbsup2

AP has a seared scallop entree that comes with coconut basmati rice. They do serve Black Diamond mac & cheese with their Buffalo steak. So I asked if I could switch the rice for the mac n cheese.
Got a wrinkled nose in return from the server saying I could, but basically not recommended. (Still should have gone for it. Wrinkled nose or not. But oh well.)

For my cheese fix I ordered the appy of Artisanal cheeses Midnight Moon, Beemster X-O, Smokey Blue Cheese (all with garnishes). Very good, and the garnishes were paired with perfect choices. DH even had some. And I still have some in a doggie bag in the frig, which the dogs are not getting! :rotfl2:

For an appy, DH got the Dungeness Crab Cake. Dungeness crab is the food of the Gods to DH. And he was not disappointed. (Really -- how can one go wrong with Dungeness crab?)

For entree, DH ordered the Char-Grilled Buffalo Striploin Steak. (With Back Diamond mac & cheese :worship:. Meaning I got to taste it after all.) This also came with cider-glazed brussels sprouts and a syrah gastrique. (Gastrique - thick sauce produced by a reduction of vinegar or wine, sugar, and usually fruit.)

I LOVED the mac n cheese. The mac n cheese AP previously had was wonderful. What I tasted last night even blew that out of the water. I asked for the recipe. The server did not think they had it ready yet to distribute. And he and I forgot to get my e-mail addy to have it sent to me. So I will have to try and get it another way. Maybe it is on the Dis recipe collection already.

Me -- not a big meat eater, and I wanted something different. So I ordered House-made Sweet Potato Gnocchi with Brussels Sprouts, Wild Mushrooms, Caper Brown Butter and Black Winter Truffles. :thumbsup2 VERY good. And I even have my leftovers of that in the frig too. :woohoo:yum!!!

Too full for desserts. Just had lemonade to drink.
Service was very good and personal. Although it was a long time getting and paying the check. Luckily we were not on a time limit.
Lots of large parties last night when we were there, and more coming in at the end of our meal. I think that slowed down our ticket portion.

We were looking forward to AP again. And once again it did not disappoint.

Thanks so much for your review. We'll be eating there in a week, and I can't wait.

I'll be sure to ask for a side of the mac and cheese... Wrinkled noses will be ignored. :)

Thanks for the review of a favorite restaurant and what a great time of year to visit the Lodge!

DH said it was Good. He enjoyed it. But probably would order something else next time. (Probably try the salmon.)

Shame they did not have the Berkshire porkchop. That he talked about for days.
Now the Berkshire chop is a part of an appy. (Pork belly is used in risotto.)

He also said afterwards he thought overall the meal cost too much, considering I did not have any meat in my dishes.

In January we have an ADR for Flying Fish. That is probably his favorite WDW restaurant.

Please tell me that they still have the smoky portobello soup on the menu.

Thanks for posting your review.

@MickeyCrazed We will be there next week also! :cool1: We will be at AP for ADR on Monday at 8:30. When is your ADR?

Thanks for the review! We have an ADR there in less than 2 weeks for my birthday dinner and I can't wait!

Yes, they still have the soup. I almost ordered it.
But I had a dish of mushroom caps at lunch. My entree was going to have mushrooms. And I thought mushroom soup on top of that, all in one day would just be pushing mushrooms over the top. :lmao:It would feel like having the mystery ingredient on Iron Chef America. :rotfl2:

Thanks for your reply. I'll bet a lot of us on the Disney Dining Report forum are also Food Network fans. DH & I also both watch Iron Chef. :goodvibes

I remember their old mac 'n cheese being fabulous, so I will have to check this out. thanks.

I had the mushroom soup there a couple of weeks ago. It is still the best soup I can find.
