Has anyone stayed in an Artisan Suite before? we are staying in one in December and just curious where they are and what they're like!

There are a few different kinds of Artisan Suites at GCH. http://disneylandmeetings.disney.go.com/dlm/index?id=ArtisanKKSuiteAPage

Here is a link to some info about the suites at GCH. We are staying in one in August -- thank you DVC developers points. :goodvibes

Have a great trip! DL is a lot of fun at Christmastime!
Thanks, I had found that site too! The floor plans look nice! We're using DVC points also! I wonder how it is determined which kind of suite you stay in.
You'll have to tell us all about it when you get back!

They basically are all over the hotel where they are able to provide those big wrap around patios. We have stayed in the ones that are directly over the world of disney three times. They are very nice, but those are so far to walk. Basically it is like walking all the way to the lobby and then all the way back down downtown disney. There is a short cut coming out, but not going up because of the doors locking. They have a little wet bar with refrig., which is nice. The only downside of them is that the bathroom can be accessed from two different sides. You have to make sure that the doors are locked. I'm sure that you will love it. How many points are they, if you don't mind me asking?

We are using 75 points a night. We stayed in a DTD view room over 4th of July weekend, so know all about the hike you make to your room! A person could get lost!

Thanks Mary Jo! Seeing as I worked at Disneyland for 15 years and Andrew worked there for 3 (we met there), it's about time I came over here!

Now THAT would have been a good riddle back in the days of the riddle thread ;). I didn't know you two had met at DL.

Went off on vacation so missed your reply. I will definitely report back when we return in less than three weeks! :cool1:

I'm a former DL castmember, too. Now we can all sing "it's a small world after all . . ."

I look forward to hearing about your stay! Make sure to take pictures!

We had one for our wedding weekend back in 2001 - got married there. very nice - although the balconies don't actually wrap around - there are two separate ones. We used points and paid to upgrade to the suite. I don't think they let you do that anymore.

I liked the "hallway bathroom", but thought the toilet area was a little small. The king bed is really nice to have, though. FYI - the waffle bathrobes will leave marks on you for a few days if you fall asleep in them...

We used our DVC developer points to stay in an Artisan suite in May of this year. The suites are nicely layed out with the bathroom in the middle of the suite and the 2 balconies are great as well. We were lucky enought to have a partial DL view and were able to see the fireworks at night as well as a view of CA's Soarin ride so we were able to see when the crowds in CA were buliding in the morning. We've also had a 3 bedroom suite at the DL hotel for Christmas last year and the rooms were much larger than GC suites and we had an amazing view from the 11th floor each night of the fireworks. The GC is nice and you can't beat the entrance into CA but as everyone who's stayed at the GCwill tell you, the WALK to your room can be almost as long as the walk to the DL hotel or atleast feels like it =__) . Personally after staying at both I feel more Disney at the DL hotel, but since we now own points at the VGC we'll be at there from now on.

Just back from our DL trip. We loved our Artisan Suite Room 3359. The configuration was an A as described on the Disney site but we have two balconies instead of one that connected. I thought that it was very similar to the junior suite that we stayed in at WL before we bought our DVC.

This was a great room because it was close to the DCA entrance and elevators by Napa Rose. A lot of times when we left DL we just went through the DCA entrance and entered the hotel through DCA because could pick up fastpasses and be closer to the elevator.

Above was the view from one of the balconies. The other balcony looked on the ferris wheel and Maliboomer. I love the new lighting effects on the Mickey Spinning Wheel o' Death -- according to Blue Sky Cellar all of Paradise Pier will have similar effects -- they are like LED lights that change colors and make patterns -- beautiful!

Each night I could hear an owl hooting outside out room. I know it was a real owl because the hoots varied and I heard it at 4 a.m. when all the sounds at DCA were off.

Even though the suite was a point burner, I am glad we did this for the last time that we stay at the GC hotel. I can't wait to see the new villas. Every GC that I asked about them gushed about how beautiful they are!

Somehow we did not manage to get any interior pics but if you have any questions, I will be happy to try and answer.
