We went down to Houston yesterday for the Art Car parade. As usual, it was a hoot. It was hot as heck and we didn't get a good spot in the shade this year. There were 283 entries, so it ran a little longer than I'd like. Still, it was great fun and there were some really interesting entries.
I've posted a slideshow with 120+ shots from the parade. The slideshow is here. I put the shots on my Smugmug site here.
To get a sense for the parade, think Junkyard Wars meets alternative arts community. In fact, one of the major drivers of the Houston art car parade was once on Junkyard wars (Texas Scrapdaddy).
Before your check out the slideshow or photos, I should warn you that you might find some of the shots offensive. Some of the parade entries advocated views that are not universally agreed upon. I'm not posting them to endorse those views or make a statement. These are intended to be pictures from an art parade, nothing more. Also, I removed some pictures because they advocated illegal drug use or were more sexually suggestive than I thought appropriate for general posting. I probably missed some that you might still think are inappropriate. I'd be comfortable showing the slideshow to me kids (who were with me at the parade), but you might not.
