Arriving with an extra person

So glad I found this thread. DH just decided he may want to come with DS8 and I in 2 weeks. We will hope for the best !

We usually ask at the front desk when this happens. Probably came up 3 or 4 times. Each time they accommodated us but we realized they had were not obligated to.

One more observation as the week continues. There have been times (like today at Sci Fi) where we had tables of 4 and when we checked in, the app said we could add "Zero" extra people. When we asked at the podium, they were fully booked. So it seems like it depends on the day and capactity. Today was very busy at Hollywood Studios - no ability to add extra people.

We tried calling to add one more to our Be Our Guest reservation for Dec 2 and were not able to even add one person. So, your mileage may vary just showing up, but they told us no way

I had ADRs for 2, needed 3, for Dec 5-10. I had good luck canceling most of ours on one browser and immediately rebooking on another for 3. Only a few wouldn't let me, but my dining searches came thru for those. (I am truly a dining searchaholic )

From early June- I didn’t pay any attention until we needed to add a person to our Sci Fi reservation. We had an ADR for two but had three people. The option popped up for me to add one person during the check in process on the app. I wish I had payed more attention to some of our other ADRs.

So we are a party of 8 that became a party of 9. I know it will probably vary by location, but any problem with walking up and seeing if they can squeeze the extra person in? Any recent experiences with this? Since everything is so capacity controlled now...just not sure.

If we cannot, then the extra person is willing to go have counter service while we eat. Totally understand.

FWIW, we have tables of 8 at WCC, Beaches & Cream, Rainforest, T-Rex, and Prime Time. We have 2 tables of 4 at Chef Mickey and Plaza. The only place we were actually able to modify to 9 was Olivias (and it's table of 4, table of 5.) I'm most worried about B&C and Plaza since they are pretty tiny.

We've done it multiple times precovid and post. We've never not been accommodated...we always go in with the understanding that they may not be able to, but we've always been able to do it. Most recently we went from 4-5 @ Beaches and Plaza this past March.

Thanks for posting - I'm hoping this is the case as I mixed up our days (I'm leaving early) and booked two reservations for 5 that need to be for 6. One is at Trattoria al Forno so I'm not worried about it, but the second is Topolino's so I am nervous about that one - if it's a problem I will just wait for them outside, but I'm really hoping it will work out.

Curious how Topolino's worked out for you - I am trying to add a guest to a reservation for 4 on Tuesday.
