We will be arriving at the Poly on July 5th and staying GVC (1st time staying on-site- very excited!!!). What is the procedure when we arrive? Do we stop at the GCH? Do we park our own car or is valet parking required for Concierge? Do we unload our bags from the car or does a CM handle that. I'm not opposed to parking the car ourselves or unloading our bags, I just don't want to do the wrong thing and look foolish.

Any advice will be great.

Thanks,
Michele

Michele,

You pull up to the front door of the GCH at the Poly and the bell man helps with the luggage. They ask if you want to self park or valet, up to you. You tell them your preferance and park or valet. Then you tell the bell man you are staying concerige and they ask your name and put your luggage in the "cart" they have the little golf carts, and then you get in and they take you straight to hawawii building, concerige. You will then regesiter there, if your room is ready they put your luggage right in the room, with you and you go down to do the paper work. The bellman will walk you through the whole thing, don't worry! ;)
Just remember to tell them as you get out of your car your staying "concerige"!

Thanks so much for the info.

What would we do without the DIS boards and all of the wonderful members who give such great advice?

I wish other travel destinations had boards like these with such a wealth of information.

OFF TO THE POLY GVC VERY VERY SOON (7/5/04) !!!!!!!

We'll see you there! We'll be there July 4-6 int eh Hawaii building as well :)

Also it is possible that when you pull up to the Guard Shack he will already have your parking pass there and it will say Concierge on it. Sometimes however they don't already have them ready and you will get the pass at check in the Hawaii building. If not as stated simply let them know when they come to the car to assist you that you are Concierge.

If you wish to park your own car and not valet, then let the bellhop load your luggage onto the cart and they will wait for you to park the car before taking your group to Hawaii. You will need to move your car from the drive through before proceeding. If you decide to valet it is $6.00 per day plus tips.

Enjoy your trip.

thelees385: We will also be checking in to the Poly on 7/5 LVC. We're from NC near the SC line. Looking forward to our trip. Enjoy your trip, maybe we'll see you in the lounge!!

YCFan--I'll be looking for you too! Will you have lime green on?

Anne

Actually I have a DIS lime green fanny pack!! It'll be pretty easy to spot me. LOL! Looking forward to meeting all of you.

oh, wow .... I'll be there too. We arrive next Tuesday at the Polynesian LVC and stay through the 4th ... leaving on the 5th for the GF for a few nights (always wanted to stay at the GF ... so we're splitting our stay).

It will be great to see everyone ... maybe we can all meet after the 4th's fireworks??

See you soon,

Lorie

Great idea to meet after the fireworks! We'll be back to the Polynesian about 10:30ish, where should we all meet?

I'm not sure I'll be in "lime green", never did have much luck finding any lime green ribbon. but take a look at my web site in the links below, there are photo's of me on there.

Back to the check-in procedure...

When staying in Hawaii, how and when does one get lei-ed? Do they still offer the leis at check-in? (I hope they kiss us on the cheeks first! ;) )

When we stayed there 2/03, we arrived around 6PM- certainly not a busy time. We stopped at the valet and let them park the car. We were given a map and basically told to find our way to the concierge building. Having never been to the poly before, that was difficult to say the least. When we got to the building, the doors were locked as always (you use your keycard to get in). The CM inside yelled 'sorry, we're closed!' :earseek: She was just joking but at that point I was seriously regretting our resort decision. They did upgrade us to a lagoon view room which sort of made up for the rocky start. Oh, and they didn't tell us we had to call the valet to get the bags brought to our room. I has assumed the concierge would handle it as she asked where we parked and where our bags were.

We had a much better stay at the poly last month- the lagoon and the pool are awesome!

Hope you have a great trip

Liz
