We're planning our trip for the summer and my husband doesn't want to take too many days off of work, so I was thinking about taking a later flight and arriving around 10:20 PM at Orlando. This will give us a full day and a good nights sleep for our first day.

Has anyone checked into the BWV around 11 PM or after? Has the check in process gone smoothly? Do I call someone to let them know we will be arriving late? Having room ready when we arrive sounds great to us.

We are also planning on doing the ME bus. Do they even have buses late in the evening?

TIA

They do have ME, but you will need to pick up your own luggage... room should be ready... you can call or e-mail member services to let them know you will be arriving late

We've checked in past 11:00 and had no issues at all except very tired kids. But we have also gone from the airport quickly via a car service rather then using ME, not sure how long that may delay your arrival to the resort since they make multiple stops along the way.

One time a friend's husband took ME in the evening, his wife was already there, he was the only person on the ME bus!

It seems a shame to use a days worth of points just to sleep, but I can understand the thought process behind the later flight.
I wonder how they would handle it if you arrived after midnight? Would that be considered as one less day, or would you have to wait until 4pm that next day to get a into room?
I guess if you have the points and want the security of knowing you have a room to go into, then that's your option:)

I've checked in past midnight after driving all day. Sure you use points for the night (You have to assume your room would be occupied until the 11:00 am check out, then cleaned) , but nothing beats waking up in WDW the next am. That would be a huge hastle and waste of time to move the next day (moving takes several hours) just to "save" points...

Our flight arrives at 11:40 PM, so it will be close to 1 AM when we arrive. We are renting a car. DH goes to take care of that while I retrieve luggage. I plan to do online check-in to hopefully speed things up. I may call and put the late arrival on our ressie.

The advantage of flying late and "wasting" points is that now I have CRT ADRs for the first day. We get a whole day instead of a half day, because we too, cannot leave from work early.

Let us know how it goes.

We have gone in late before so we can get an early start. I have found the check in to be the same as during the day. If you don't want to fool with your luggage (magical express) you can have bell services hold it when it arrives at the resort and then call for it when you get up. I also had the same issue as should I use points for a night of sleep. I found it better because the kids slept on the plane and then slept at the resort and got up ready to go vs. getting up early to catch an early flight then the kids crashing by 8pm. Just some thoughts.:smickey:

The day clock doesn't turn over until 6:00am. So if you arrive during the night, you pay for it.

I know some people do not like what our family likes to do, but when arriving late in the evening we just stay at a value for the night and switch to DVC the next day. Yes, it can be hard being homeless for 5-6 hours, but a good discount on the room helps a little.

Thanks for all your comments. I do like the idea of arriving and having my room ready for us. I know we will have to shell out the extra points but it will be well worth it. I guess when we make our ressies we'll get on the late arrrival list at the resort.

We will be arriving late too but have the ability to leave a day early, long flight. So we are just going to stay at the airport Hyatt and then wake up and do a full day of Disney. How early is the ME. We thought we could just get up and take it after our breakfast.
