We will be arriving late and leaving early from the World next Feb. I understand that the DDP it tied to the # of nights you stay. Has anyone ever tried to make a hotel reservation for the night of arrival and night before departure seperately from the nights booed with a package and the DDP?

In other words, since we will not be able to take advantage of using our credits on arrival and departure days (and don't think we would use the "extra" credits during our stay) I was hoping to make reservations for those two nights independantly of any package. Do you think we would be forced to move rooms if it was a slow season?

The one and only time we've been to the world we arrived late and left fairly early on our last day. (oh...yes we were also on the DDP). Our credits worked out perfectly for the time we were there. You won't get credits to use up on BOTH the day you arrive and the day you leave....but you do have up until midnight of the day your leaving to use any/all of the credits. You didn't say how many days/nights you were going BUT if your going for 4 nights you get "4" days worth of credits so your actually in the WDW area for 5 days....of course that works out to be 5 days only if your arriving early on your first day and leaving late on your last day....Anyways... I would think it would take more time away from your vacation to move from hotel to hotel than would be worth it.

One idea is....book some of the two credit TS places...to use up some extra credits. Also you didn't say how late your arriving or how early your leaving. We arrived around 9pm on our first night and were able to use some CS credits at the resort to eat dinner (we could have made it to a TS place...if we really rushed). The day we checked out we left around 8:30-9:00 am....so we were able to use up CS credits again. Now this next time we'll be leaving around 5am...so I doubt we'll be using any credits that morning...But that'll just mean we'll have to use them up another time.

Of course IMO alot of this really depends on what the actual time your planning on arriving and leaving.

Last year during free dining, we booked a 10 night package followed by a one night room only. (Should have booked the room only first, the rates changed -- live and learn.) We explained at check in we would prefer not to change rooms. The CM put in on our record, but suggested we call the front desk two or three days before the end of our package. We had no problems and did not have to change rooms. And remember, you can use your DDP credits until midnight the day you check out from your package stay.

We did this on our trip in January. We did 6 nights on the plan and then checked out and checked back in on our last day. It worked out great! In fact, lots of people must be doing this because I didn't even have to go to the front desk to do it. I called to confirm everything and they sent someone up to our room with the paperwork for me to sign and new room keys for us.

We arrived a day late(YIKES) becasue of weather and airlines. We were not able to get a refund for our dining. We had many extra points due to the extra day and the fact that we got sick for one day. So we gave away lunches. We stood right by the register at the food court and bought 16 peope lunch. Although we didnt get any money back we did get lots of smiles!!! It was nice. We used all the snack credits in the hotel store for bags for treats for the kids to bring back to their friends and the extra Sit down we used up on 2 credit meals.
