our flight arrives at 8:00 pm so does the dinnig plan star right away? y the time we get to our room it will probably be 10 pm. should we bother to dine at the hotel or got to downtown disney?

It is per night, starting the moment you check in. But there is no obligation to use your credits each day. You can save the credits and use them later in your trip.

I'd say plan on your resort for dinner, if you get there and get checked in before the food court closes (you certainly should).

By the time you get to the resort, get checked in, and got over to DTD.... you'd find most things either closed or on their last legs for the night, and any delay in your travel time may cause you to miss out there, and then miss out back at the resort once you eventually got back from DTD.

The general rule of thumb is to allow about 90 minutes from when you deplane to when you arrive at your resort when using Magical Express. So, you're probably looking at arriving around 9:30 pm. Another thirty minutes or so to check-in, drop off your carry-ons, et. and most of the restaurants are closing up (resorts restaurants seem to close around 10:00 pm...food courts stay open later it seems).

You might check out the DTD restaurants to see if they stay open later (some might to catch the Cirque crowds). For example, right now Raglan Road is open until 11:00 pm (or at least serving dinner until 11:00 pm). If you do go to DTD, I would take a taxi from your resort to save time (unless the bus happens to be pulling up when you get to the bus stop).

if the food court is open we will do that and save the ts credit
