Hello!!!!

So excited we are arriving on Friday. Is there anyone there now that can let me know what the weather has been like.? Has it been raining every day and if so, does it last for hours or are they quick showers and the sun comes out quickly after. I have our handy ponchos, but I cannot find umbrellas so I have to make a trip to Walmart.

Thanks so much.

Standard Florida summer pattern. Passing afternoon showers, unlikely to last very long.

We have been here since last Wednesday. On our arrival day, it rained from about 10 am to 3pm...rain, thunder and lightning, wind. Then we had very little rain until yesterday and today (21st and 22nd). Yesterday the rain started around 4:30pm at a rate of 1.5 inches an hour. The rain slowed down towards the 9pm hour but it was a steady, wet rain well through the night. And the thunder and lightning show was quite incredible. The staff here at Yacht Club were stationed at the doors with towels and discouraged patrons from leaving during some of the more dangerous spells. Tonight rain pulled in around 6pm with some incredible lightning. It was a steady rain but tonight you could do parks with ponchos or umbrellas. Hoping the nighttime rain stops so we can enjoy the parks at night.

It's been very rainy, and the storms haven't been short-lived, they are lasting for longer than usual. Hopefully by the time you get here, we will be back to our quick afternoon shower routine. This has been a very wet summer!

Is the forcast for the weather to improve any time soon? I love a good thunderstorm in the summer but not when they last hours!:)

Yeah. October.

Well I have been to orlando every August for the last 10 years so Iam aware what typical summer weather pattern is, Iam simply asking if the current "rain for hours and hours" trend is looking to continue or if more usual weather will return.

We just got home yesterday and we only experience 2 days of rain on our trip. We were there from July 17-22. We had heavy thunderstorm rain on Sunday for about 2 hours then slowed and stopped. Monday afternoon the rain rolled in around 4pm and lasted well into the evening, loud thunder and crazy lightning! We were prepared with 2 umbrellas, and were very fortunate to only need them on 2 days of our trip!

Just be prepared, you never know when the rain will pop up. And the local weather was pretty accurate with the timing of the storms each day!

I don't believe there is a "current rain for hours and hours trend" and even if there were, if anyone had any clue how long it would last. As a lifelong resident with 46 Florida summers under my belt, I learned at a young age to trust no one--including meteorologists--with specific forecasts more than 24-48 hours out around here. It is utterly pointless.

I see you are in Jacksonville though. The storms can be very localised and from everything I have been reading Orlando has been a lot wetter then "normal". Maybe Jacksonville has been fine but orlando has had a battering of storms lately.

I totally agree-this has been the rainiest visit we ever had! As history shows, we know to expect the afternoon rain, but this rain tends to start and not stop. We got rained out two times so far!
