Arriving Dec 30th ... Will I have ADR issues?

We are arriving on December 30th - I know, I know in the midst of that crazy holiday week. After spending days calling DVC Member Services, I finally have my DVC reservation sorted out. I thought I could take a planning break (except for scouting airfare) until either my 7 month window (we may try for Kidani) or my 180 mark - we plan on doing a dining plan. And then it hit me ...

ALL those MANY MANY people who are arriving at the beginning of the crazy hoiday week will have been able to book their reservations for Dec. 30th onward before my window even opens!

So, what are my chances? What strategies can I try? What have people experienced? We are a larger group (5 adults 1 child, 2 toddlers. I know it's early to be asking this ... my 180 day mark is around 5 MONTHS away, but since the thought crossed my mind, I now need to know!

We have been to wdw for the last 5 years and will be there this year also. I did make my adrs at 180 days(or 90 days when that was the case) and have been able to get everything i wanted. I will tell you that NYE will be your most difficult adr. Many folks that have arrived from the 21st on have already done so. If you are flexible, you should find something. Just remember that the parks usually hit max capacity on NYE(Epcot holds the crowds the best, but MK has closed to all guests by 10am each year we have been) so don't plan on park hopping at least to MK. Last year we did DHS in the morning and then epcot and had no problem park hopping to there. You may have better luck eating at restaurant outside the parks. 2 years ago we ate at Kouzzina NYE at 8:30pm and then hung around BW area and were able to see fireworks from Epcot and DHS from around the area.

We are leaving on 12/30 this year.

We are not arriving until the 30th either and staying at BWV. We have no desire to be in the parks on NYE...gonna watch it all from the Boardwalk. I am hoping to get Processional Tickets for the 30th at Biergarten and then the 31st Cape May...I am trying to come up with some back up plans for these 2 nights. I figure after the 1st, things will calm down somewhat and I will be able to get ADR for the rest of the week with some ease. Going to have a backup plan and try not to be disappointed...although if I don't get processional tickets...there is gonna be issues! I think I will have a fair shot at them since they will not be available until August for everyone...

Thanks for the replies. I sort of figured that NYE would pose the biggest potential problem. We're travelling with three little ones, so the plan was to avoid parks on NYE. Fortunately, there are a lot of resort TS places that we enjoy - hopefully we'll be able to get into one of them!
