Arriving before check in and luggage?

We plan on arriving in Orlando and staying off property the night before our resort check in. So on the day of check in we plan on going to our resort and hopping on a bus to Magic Kingdom. My question is, I know our room will not be ready, but I would rather not leave our luggage baking in the car. Do they have a holding area and then they will take your luggage to your room when it is ready? TIA!!

Bell Services will hold your luggage and then you can retrieve it when you're ready to check in. They didn't send it directly to our room. We had to go with our ticket and get it, but they did have luggage carts and bellmen to assist us when we went to retrieve our luggage.

If you are staying in a deluxe, they will bring it to your room after you are in it, they will not deliver it without you being in it. If you are staying in a moderate or a value, you will need to pick it up yourself. I always drive down and more often than not do split stays so I check into resort #2 around 8 am, according to where I'm staying, most of the time I just leave it in the car. If I'm staying somewhere like BWI where the walk to the rooms from the parking lot is looooooong, I'll leave it with bell services.

Bell Services at all Moderates and Luggage Assistance at all the Values will also deliver luggage to your room if you are in the room.

Good to know. I've never tried since, like I said, I just leave mine in my car. I've stayed at POR, CSR, CBR, POP and ASSp from the moderates and values and have found the walk to the room from the car a breeze. Like I said, not as great with some of the deluxe resorts.

You can check in as early as 7AM and leave your luggage with Bell Services until your room is ready. No need to wait until 3PM to check in.

That posted check-in time means "please don't expect your room to be ready before this time." You can actually check in anytime after the system turns over at 7.

I would also recommend against leaving luggage in your car. There have been reports over the years of break-ins in theme park and resort lots, and the FL heat can actually melt or otherwise damage items left in the car (medications, cosmetics, etc).

You can do online check in and let Disney know you will be there earlier in the day. You never know, your room could be ready when you get there to check in. It's worth a shot and once there, check in before you go to the parks so the system knows you are on property.
