Helped some friends in the past week with their visits to all 4 WDW Parks and came to the realization that it may be better to arrive later in the day than show up for Early Entry (EE) or Rope Drop.

The only park where I think EE helps is with Hollywood Studios. You can finish this park rather fast with EE access.
Otherwise you can use G+ and ILL and stack them to use later in the day.
I think arriving 4-6 hours past opening is the sweet spot. 4 hours gives you 3 LLs and 1 ILL, 6 hours can give you 4 LLs and 1 ILL.
However, in order to arrive later you really need to know which attractions to get LL first, second, third, etc, and how to do the G+ LL/ILL refresh trick.

For example, my order is...
Magic Kingdom
1) Jungle Cruise
2) Peter Pan
3) Space Mountain
ILL for Mine Train after you arrive
All other LLs are easier to get with the refresh trick or the lines get shorter as it gets later.
Epcot
1) Frozen
2) Test Track
ILL for Remy for after you arrive
All other LLs are easier to get with the refresh trick or the lines get shorter as it gets later.
Hollywood Studios
1) Slinky
2) Tower
3) Falcon
ILL for Rise for after you arrive
All other LLs are easier to get with the refresh trick or the lines get shorter as it gets later.
Animal Kingdom
1) Navi
2) Safari
3) Everest
ILL for FOP for after you arrive.

If we didn’t hop I agree this would be a great idea. As you said, main thing would be knowing which rides to book when. You wouldn’t want to book something early and get a return time at 9am. But wouldn’t want to wait too long to lose out on the booking second two hours after opening.
