We are planning a stay of 11 nights at the end of Aug beginning of Sept. We reserved a split stay 3 nights at VGF and 7 at the BC resort. The night we arrive is not available at VGF so I'm contemplating options. I've wait-listed the night but VGF is small and who knows if it will come through. We have never done a split stay before but we are excited to stay at both of these resort as we have never have stayed at either before.

We are arriving late the first night 9:30pm to MCO so we are ok with staying just about anywhere if need be. But I wont pay for a VGF room OOP.

If the wait list doesn't come through what should I do?
Reserve another DVC resort (prob ak standard or OKW) for 1 night (can transfer luggage)
a night at an all star resort (can transfer luggage)
a night off property.. blasphemy I know....

I'm not someone who likes to wing it and not having a contingency for a failed wait list is making me itchy.

If I have points I tend to prefer to use them if there's something acceptable to book. I wouldn't be too surprised though for the waitlist to come thru. A single night is relatively easy to get.

I'd book a night at the poly and keep my plans the same with proximity to the MK regardless of where you end up.

Given your late arrival, consider the Hyatt at the airport. Especially if you have Hyatt points. I think our room was only 15000 points on our departure night... They might have a special going on if you're off season. You are before Labor Day, so not sure..

Then catch DME next morning?

I second this suggestion, especially with your late arrival into MCO. After the stress of traveling, it's so nice to just hop on an elevator at the airport and settle in for the night. You can get up at your leisure and take DME to WDW. The only drawback to this is if you have a lot of luggage. I was also lucky enough to have enough Hyatt points to use them for a stay at MCO, but for a late arrival, I would absolutely pay for it, too.

I wonder if you could send your luggage ahead on the night of your arrive with DME
and you check into the Hyatt with a small carryon for the night?

Unless your ME reservation is for that night I'm not sure you could. And you would still want to take it next morning? Also if the bags somehow arrived but you don't have a reservations...would they hold them or think it was a mistake? Personally I wouldn't chsnce it. Just take your bags with you. We ride ME all the time but I always collect bags first so I know exactly where they are at all times and on the chance you can check in right away, you can take bags right to room.

I have always found that my waitlists came through especially this far out. As for contingency a room at the Hyatt at the airport is convenient especially if you are arriving late. Very convenient. Can you reverse your VGF and BC reservations if the first night is available at BC?:flower3:

If the Hyatt is too expensive, use Hotwire or some last minute hotel site and get a hotel near the airport. Last time, I did that, I got a 2 bed room at the Ramada with a free breakfast. Airport shuttle was free to the hotel and back to the airport (took about 20 minutes to wait for the shuttle at the airport and only 10 minutes to the airport). Get on DME in the morning.

I was also going to mention there are a half dozen hotels cheaper than the Hyatt all with free shuttles just north of the airport.

If you wait listed a studio, even for one night, I wouldn't count on it coming through. There is a very limited number of any type of studios at GFV. I would consider either at the airport or off site, if you will have a car. You have to pick up your luggage to bring to ME, and they combined buses...it took us well over an hour to arrive at WLV when our flight arrived around 11:00 pm.

Who's traveling with you? If you have children, i would stay at the airport and get to bed asap after the flight so you could enjoy your next day. That's a pretty late arrival time. If its adults and you don't mind switching it yet again, I would try for another type of room at the GF, then look at other monorail resorts so your next day is as easy as possible.
