Arrival day schedule, Spectromagic & EMH

We are arriving Aug 23 probably before noon staying at CR. We plan to check in hopefully be able to get our room, eating late lunch at Chef Mickey then go in the pool. We are going to the park at night to take advantage of the extended night hours. Im not sure if around 6-7 or later would be good?
. Being this will be our first time can anyone recommend a good time to go. Also for the Spectromagic can you recommend a place to watch this and how far in advance do we need to find our space? Or would you recommend not seeing Spectro the first night and just doing the rides?? Would the rides be any less of a wait as alot of people will also be seeing the show?

We do have another opportunity to see Spectro on our last night on the 27th

I don't have any advice on whether on not to see Spectro your first night, but you definitely don't want to arrive at the park while it is going on, because you won't be able to get through to get to any of the rides.

So, either way (whether watching Spectro, or skipping it to do rides), you want to get there well before it starts.
