Arrival Day Ideas

We are staying at the Villas at the GF on our upcoming trip. Our flight gets in at 9:30am and various members of our party of 10 get in throughout the day.

When we get to VGF, we will probably eat a QS lunch at Gasparilla and hit the pool until our villa is ready (if weather cooperates - I usually pack suits in a carry on if we get in early). Then the plan is to do Disney Springs after we all get settled in the room. Have Earl of Sandwich there, probably. But ... if it rains we won't do Disney Springs night 1. We'll probably do a monorail resort tour.

I've had Contempo cafe before but I'm not crazy about it. How is the QS at the Poly? We stayed there long ago and never ate QS there. Any other ideas?

Another rain option would be a last minute ADR somewhere on the monorail line for dinner based on what's available. Party of 10 can be tough last minute though. I never was much of a planner but now that I have a 2yo and 1yo I want to have a tentative plan with lots of flexibility and backup ideas in case of crabby babies on travel day

Kona Cafe is great, and Whispering Canyon isn't far (though not on the Monorail). I think you'll have a hard time (or a long wait) getting a party of 10 in for TS at the last minute. On the first night you may want to just get QS or "fend for yourselves" since everyone is traveling and may be hungry at different times, and then you can save a large TS meal for when everyone is settled in and relaxed in the next day or so...or maybe a big group breakfast at TS?

The QS at Poly has a cramped set up and I think you will be hard pressed to find seating for 10. I would do Contempo or simply eat at Gasparillas again. You could order from the pool grill for lunch if you don't want to repeat Gasparillas. Or, order room service!
