We arrive at MCO ay 3:55pm. We would like to make an ADR for 'Ohana but I am not sure if ADRs are a smart thing for arrival day (you know any kind of delay could happen). I was thinking 7 or 8pom would give us plenty of time to get there but I am still not 100% sure if any TS is a good idea. What do you think?

I'd go for it! Since there's no penalty for missing an ADR (but it would be polite to call to cancel) and your chances of making the ressie are reasonably good, I think you should make the reservation. If it seems impossible at 6pm, cancel it and get CS.

One last thing, I'm not sure where you're staying or if you're renting a car, but always remember that you can take a cab to the Poly. We've done that when staying on premises since sometimes the bus schedules don't cooperate with our meal schedules!

If you're on the DDP, I would suggest something light for dinner... when DBF and I went 2 years ago, we booked WCC for our first night. It was delicious, but we were so exhausted from traveling all day and not prepared for the sheer amount of food that we would be given, we could barely eat a thing! All I wanted was that bananas and cinnamon dessert, but by the time it came out I could only eat one bite! This year we are just going to go to DTD on our first day and grab something at EOS or WPE. Good luck deciding!

I think you're safe to book it as long as it's quite late. I would factor in two hours to get from your arrival gate to resort, another half hour for check-in, and another hour to get from resort to the Poly.

When we went last December we went to the Hoop De Doo for the very first time and our table got centered out by the performers. What a way to start a Disney vacation. Glad we did it

I usually book a light meal on arrival day. This year we ate at The Plaza in the Magic Kingdom. I thought that If we were late and missed the ADR, it wouldn't be the worst thing to happen. I really didn't want to miss my ADR at O'hana's, so I made that ADR later in the week. I was glad I did that because we didn't have to race around to get there or worry about being delayed by travel on the first day and it made for a relaxing dinner that we all enjoyed.

We always book Ohana as our arrival day meal. 7 or 8pm will be fine. Roll up to the bar before your ADR time and get yourself a Backscratcher while you wait. Enjoy!!

Thanks for the replies..I must be super tired. We are staying at the Poly. I remember last trip we were so hungry when we arrived (I think I had a few crackers on the plane and 1 mini cinnabon roll) that a nice dinner would be much needed.

Go for it! I love Ohana and am jealous that you are staying at the Poly! When we stayed there we did Ohana on our first night as well. We arrived around 4PM like you and our reservation was for 9PM because everything else earlier was booked or would be cutting it close. We ended up being so hungry when we got there that after exploring the resort we headed over to the restaurant at around 7:30PM and they sat us in about 15 minutes. So I would make a later reservation so you ensure yourself enough time, but you could always try checking in early and see if they can accommodate you. Have fun!

I'd say do it, especially since you are already staying at the Poly. We never usually do a TS for dinner because we never know where we will be at that time of day. We are not the type of family to go straight over to a park once we get off the plane. However, for our upcoming December trip my DH and I decided that we want to make an ADR to Cali Grill (our favorite restaurant) for the first night. We are due to arrive at MCO by 11am and hopefully will be at AsMo by noon which would give us more than enough time to get over to CR for a 5:30pm ADR (all theoretical since I haven't made my ADRs yet). We thought this would be a good first night dinner because the girls can look out at MK while eating and then after dinner we planned on going resort hopping around the monorail resorts.

Thanks everyone I'm going to do it. I am so excited to stay at The Poly...we worked real hard and budgeted and saved for this trip so we could stay here. I want to make the most of it.

We are flying in from California at 4:30pm and we booked the Hoop Dee Doo Review for 9:30pm. To us it will feel like 6:30pm and it gives us plenty of time to check-in and relax a little while before heading ove to the show. You should be fine. Enjoy Ohana!
