I have an ADR for an 'Ohana dinner on our arrival day but have been thinking about changing that to Hoop De Doo. We've never done either. We are on the
Dining Plan so we would pay out of pocket for Tier 1 seating for HDD. The kids are DD-9, DS-6 and DD-6. If I cancel the 'Ohana dinner, I'll try to use the extra TS credit on our departure day for breakfast at Cape May or 'Ohana. Any thoughts or suggestions? This is for 2/20-2/26 and so far all of these restaurants are available.

We did hoop-de-doo last year and my kids then DS9, DS7 and DD5 loved it. They were laughing so hard. I would say go for it. Also we loved O'hana for breakfast. We are doing it again this year on our first day. We are also trying it for supper one night. Have a great time.

I would definitely do Hoop dee doo, especially if you have never done it before. You will love the show and pay OOP will get you better seats too. I can't think of a better way to start your adventure at disney!:thumbsup2

I would then use your remaining credit to do an Ohana breakfast. Great food, great characters and great fun! No better way to end the adventure.:thumbsup2

We always have breakfast at Ohana on our departure day too.

Another suggestion would be Mickey's Backyard BBQ. Loved the food and entertainment. Not a huge fan of Ohana and have never done the hoop dee doo.

Another vote in favor of the HDDR. It's a fun, high energy way to start your vacation.

Just one caveat - HDDR is a pre-paid dinner show with a 48 hour cancellation deadline, so if for some reason your DisneyWorld arrival is delayed and you can't make it you will be charged the full amount.

It sort of depends where you are staying at and what time you are arriving.

If there will be plenty of time to allot for transportation to Fort Wilderness, (plan on at least an hour if you are not staying at a monorail resort) then we'd recommend Hoop... Again, allow yourself a little time to wonder around Fort Wilderness before the dinner and show, it's a world unto itself...

If time is a constraint, 'Ohana is somewhat easier to get to... But, maybe just a little less magical.

Your kids are the perfect age for HDDR, do it if you can... Just watch your time.

I say Ohana. Take a look on youtube and see if Hoop Dee Doo is for you first. Im glad i did because i felt it wasnt for me and not worth 2 TS. It reminded me of a cheap show (only my opinion) and things i have watched on vacation with my parents when i was kid. If anything is worth two TS it would be Ohana so at 1 TS a very good value.

I think HDDMR is the right choice if you can make it to 'Ohana for breakfast on your last day. :thumbsup2

We usually do 'Ohana as our arrival dinner--we love it--but the HDDMR is another favorite and your kids are at the perfect ages as another PP said.

'Ohana breakfast is also a great meal, I love how it is all brought to your table instead of going up to a buffet. A lot easier for us to keep track of the kiddies!;)

Enjoy!:goodvibes

Thank you all for the quick replies! We have two days allotted for the drive down from Long Island so we shouldn't have a problem with timing. Two years ago we were in the World by 1:00pm. I think I will change the reservation to HDD with 'Ohana for breakfast on our last day. You all have convinced me!

Let us know what you thought of HDDR and Ohana when you get back!

My boys 9 & 6 love HDDR. We have done it twice. This last time, my little guy got to go up on stage and be part of the show.

We used two credits and has tier 1 seating - it was for the late show - although they do lay on buses to take you back to your (Disney) hotel. Maybe your kids are a bit young though to stay up late especially on your first day.

We always do HDD as our first night dinner and we love it! We will be doing it for the 3rd time on the 18th! It is worth it and there is not a bad seat in the house.

Our tradition is to go to Ohana on arrival night for dinner. Ever since our first visit to the World, on a rainy night we watched the castle and fireworks from dinner. Afterwards, the rain had stopped so we went to the Magic Kingdom and had the place practically to ourselves. (rode small world 4x in a row because dd3 was entranced).

Last year we were unable to get Ohana reservations because we were traveling during free dining. We really missed it.

Our tradition for departure day is Ohana for breakfast. The kids love the maraca parade! And one last (guaranteed) opportunity to see the Mouse.

:cheer2:Yay!!!!:cheer2:

I absolutely will! Although we still have a bit of a wait before we get there. Today at dinner my dd-9 said out of the blue, "I just can't take the waiting anymore! We have to go back to Disney now!" :rotfl2:

So you would definitely recommend Ohana for breakfast on the last day as opposed to Cape May? So far I've reserved Ohana as our last meal.

Tell your DD she is not alone!!!

I can't take the waiting either! :hyper:
