"Around the World in 80 Days" - Short Review

DD won passes to a sneak preview of "Around the World in 80 Days" and we saw it last night. It was bad. Really really bad. The writing was just horrible. I guess if you were a huge Jackie Chan fan it would tolerable, but otherwise, don't bother. There is lots of violence...you know, that "cartoon like" violence that happens to real people....

I can't believe Disney put its name on this movie.

How does it compare to Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights? I thought those were fun, and thought this looked like it would have a similar feel.

Darn! Is it so bad a 4 and 8 YO would not realize?
Disney channel has beaten this promo to death and DD's are really looking forward to going.

We just got back from Around the World in 80 Days. Having seen the original when I was a child, I was shocked and disappointed with this film. I should have read reviews first, not listened to DS9 that wanted to go.

I'm not a Jackie Chan fan, thought the violence was a little too much for a PG movie, and it didn't even seem like a film about going around the world. The Disney studio should be ashamed.

That said, DS loved it, didn't think it was violent.

Oh, and it was only being shown once today, at 11 AM, and we were the ONLY 2 people in there. What does that tell you?
