Welcome to my Pre-trip and eventual trip trip report, this is my first attempt at a trip report and I’m going to set myself up, by saying it’s going to be bigger than 10 Super Bowls…. Well maybe not that big, but it is awesome enough to have it’s own logo and theme music… (start humming that song from Indiana Jones, you know the one)

title-1.jpg

So without further ‘abu’ let’s light this candle and start with the origins of this so called ‘trip’

The Cast

Me aka Tigger aka Courtney aka Don’t Call Me Court (23): I’m the organizer, planner, and booker of this vacation. I work in television and no it’s not glamorous and/or overly exciting. It’s sports television and there is pretty much a game everyday it can be and is very exhausting, so when the off-season rolls around a vacation is highly needed. My obsession with Disney started very young, my mom would buy me a Disney movie every year for my birthday and I fell in love. My childhood dream was to be an animator, and while that never panned out, I truly believe Disney is the reason why I still haven’t grown up.

My Sister aka Eeyore aka Rebekah aka Bekah (20): Poor Eeyore has been stuck at college all year long and only has about a month off before she starts taking summer classes. Now my sister, who I will call Eeyore for the extent of this report, is not necessarily someone you would want to go to Disney World with. Not because she doesn’t appreciate it, she’s just as big a fan as me, she tends to get moody when she’s tired and hot hence the name Eeyore. She doesn’t do big rides, Splash Mountain is the extent to what she’ll get on, but she’s my best friend and even if she’s annoyed all I have to do is say Country Bear Jamboree and I’ll have her laughing in no time.

Now here is where I would post pictures of us, but I’m so digital nowadays and lost all my pictures from my hard drive and I can’t find the memory card. If only I had film and something called a negative. Also in the elapsed time from when everything went missing to now let’s just someone or something broke my camera. I should not be trusted with technology, did I mention I work in television. Anyway I bought a new camera, but since Eeyore lives about five states east of me, I don’t have any pictures of her on it, but I can take one of myself…

100_0273-1.jpg

For now I’ll just give you an artist rendering of Eeyore. I told you I had aspiration of being in animation.

I made her shirt blue, Eeyore likes blue.

BekahStick-1.jpg

That’s really not a great picture of her, her hair is a little more brown than that.

Enough with the introductions, I think you’ve figured us out quite a bit. However, before you get too invested I will tell you a couple of things you will not see in this trip report, so if you dig these things leave now.

We will not…
Run all over the place to make our ADRs
We don’t make ADR’s not that we don’t believe in them, we do. But see, Tigger doesn’t like table service. Growing up vacation was the only time we got fast food, and we have kept this philosophy to this day, it’s our one week to eat nothing but cheeseburgers, French fries, pizza, and hot dogs and ice cream, lots and lots of ice cream. Tigger love ice cream. I know that the world has amazing restaurants, and in five years, when I need to slow down I’ll probably invest in this very crucial step in planning.

(There is one exception: on our first trip we went to the Sci-Fi I thought it looked fun. We were so naïve that we just walked in and in 5 minutes had a table. I’m dead set on trying this again, and if the wait is too long or there is no availability that won’t phase us.)

We will not…
Be Park Hopping,
For us, we don’t like spending time on the busses, give us a full day at one park and maybe go back for a second and we’re good. It’s a great place for us to save money.

We will not…
Have stories about staking out a spot for the parades or fireworks.
Just like table service Tigger does not like fireworks, and Eeyore doesn’t see the joy in a parade when she could be riding Peter Pan one more time. When we have kids there will be plenty of parade and firework watching.

That’s enough about the negative, now I was suppose to start about the idea for this trip. I get so side tracked some times.

Last year was my first year on my own with a job and not in school, it was also Eeyore’s first year in college, and I was exhausted by the time summer rolled around. I was watching the Disney World marathon on the Travel channel and it occurred to me that we should take a vacation together and where else to Disney World. We had gone with our family when we were kids, I think I was 10 and Eeyore was 7, so it had been a while. Heck we were officially grown ups and we didn’t have to clear a trip with our parents so we booked it.

Now our first trip wasn’t a disaster, but it was by no means a success. We just did a short four day trip, we didn’t even go to Epcot. We made mistakes, but it made us realize how much fun we have together and how much fun Disney is for us. For this year I thought we would have to go somewhere else on our trip, because there was no way Eeyore would go back. Some things that happened to Eeyore during that trip…

I forced her to go on Tower of Terror, in which her necklace that she’s worn everyday for 5 years fell off and lost forever.

I broke her camera see I told you I’m not good with electronics, when I put my water bottle in her bag, during Kali River Rapids. I guess the lid wasn’t on tight enough and it spilled all over her bag and hence her camera stopped working.

Eeyore collects pressed pennies and after running all over collecting as many as we can, we get home to find she left her book back at our hotel room.

So to say the least I was shocked when she suggested we go back this year. Eeyore said she had fun and knows it’ll be better this year, besides she needs to get all those pennies again.

I think I’ll stop for now, I’ll be back with more of my planning and as thing go on, I don’t want to ramble… I’ll just leave you with a shot of my babies, my two cats McCartney and Ringo (and yes they are named after them.)

Bigger than 10 Super Bowls?!?! I'm in.

As far as your personal choices, I agree totally with the parades and fireworks. I like ADRs, because I need that structure, but if you want to do it without, go for it! There's no need to have them if you'd rather not. Whatever makes the trip the best for you! I'm not a big Park Hopper either. I'll park hop on the AK day when we go, because I don't like enough to spend the whole day there, but other than that, we pretty much do one park/day.

You have me humming the Indy song at my desk know, so I'll just have to read along.

I never hang out to watch the afternoon parade, but love the electrical one at night. I still don't want to stake out a spot all that early just to see it though. Sitting around for them always makes me think of a childhood vacation to Plymouth rock on the 4th of July one year with my grandparents. They staked out bench on the beach at about 1pm for the fireworks that night. Quite possibly the worst 4th of July ever.

:welcome: My first, I'm so glad you're here, I'm all about what is best for your family is what you should do. Thanks so much.

Hey girl!! Love the picture of your sister....my sister looks frighteningly the same!!

Your own theme music convinced me I should join you for this pre-trip report. With that, it has to be good!

It dawned on my that I had neglected to include a very important detail in the first chapter, when exactly will this trip be taking place. Eeyore and I played dueling datebooks for about an hour trying to find the perfect week and we decided on May 27-June 1st. Although for me, the vacation will start on the 25th. I’m flying out of Colorado and meeting Eeyore in Indiana on Sunday, then on Monday we will be packing and planning and running out of time before we leave bright and early on the 27th.

So…. Anyway, on with what this is suppose to be about.

Choosing a resort is a very personal thing and it can take a lot of time… blah… blah… and what have you. Well I guess it’s true. It is very personal as not everyone can see the value of a value or the deluxicity of a deluxe.

For our first trip, we were so new to the vacation planning thing we thought it would just be easier to stay on-site, and it was. We loved it and I don’t think there is any other way to go.

We went for value after all we didn’t have a ton of money to spend, not knowing anything about any of them, we picked Pop based on the pictures on the Disney World website. It totally fit our personalities, just some evidence below…

Cats named McCartney and Ringo, we’re huge Beatles fans, and I mean huge.

A large collection of Pez dispensers, some might call me a Pez Head, below is about a fourth of my collection and I love searching ebay for ones I don’t have.

Eeyore owns the Monkees TV series and there is nothing better on a Friday night when she comes to visit than playing the Monkees drinking game and chugging pixie stix instead

So as you can see it was the perfect place, I totally forgot to include my vintage toy collection.

We had a wonderful stay last time, the busses were efficient, the grounds were fun to explore, and the food court was just us.

Now I had this idea that every time we go, which we had decided would be every year until we had families of own (they might need to see things like the grand canyon once in a while), we would stay at a different resort.
We thought we would try a moderate, as a change of pace. We like to choose based on theme, so we actually put in our planning DVD and watched resort section. We wrote our selection down on paper as not to influence each other. We both picked Port Orleans French Quarter. We both could eat king cake all year long, so it’s perfect.

I was all prepared to book, when Eeyore called and said she might not be able to go, because as a college student funds were running a little low. Well that just won’t do, so I told her I would pay for everything except souvenirs and food, however we would have to trim unnecessary costs. The first was the resort.

The benefit of staying on-site was to big for us, so we were going to switch to a value, we were thinking of the All-Star Music resort, but we were a little too scared to pull the trigger. We had a great time at Pop last time so we knew we would have a great time this time. So my idea of staying somewhere different every time didn’t pan out, but maybe we’ll get put in a different section, then it will be different. That’s the Tigger way to look at it.

We're thinking about staying Pop on our August trip- Glad to hear you liked it! We're both BIG bowlers, so we're thinking about requesting the 50's section. My only thing, and I know it's absolutely stupid, is that the other buildings in the Legendary Years section... That scares to Sh!t out of me. Like, abandoned hotel buildings. Do they have a name for that phobia? Because I definatly have it!

Love, love, love the decor and decorations of your place. My mother has a thing for decorating with floral prints on everything, and can't understand my love for geometric prints and bright colors. I just know that my lime green and aqua bathroom makes her shudder. Love the Pez too. I only have a few, but I live about 5 minutes from the Pez factory. Every year they have a booth set up at the New England fair so I pick up a new one. My little tradition for fair going.

I always intend to try new resorts as well, and always end up back at POFQ. I take the books, look through them see how big the rest of them are, and happily book POFQ. Maybe if I could upgrade to the deluxes, but the rest of the mod's just don't appeal in the same way. Odd thing is the first time I stayed at POFQ I had wanted POR, but it was full. Now I have no desire to stay at POR. Maybe these things are just fate.

Followed you over from DISigns. You are very gifted with the graphics. Thanks for helping us

This sounds fun. It would have been nice for my sister and I to do something like this before our families. Hope you get to do it a few more years.

Wow!! Do you want to be my new best friend?:goodvibes I already :lovestruc your design ( I ask you for 4 and got some from your photobucket) but now... You are very funny can'T wait for some more

I'm not sure if it has a name, but we requested the 50's. Last time we stayed in the 70's, and thought the 50's was close and yet secluded at the same time. We never actually saw the Legendary Years when we were walking around, but then again we didn't know to look for them. I'm hoping it doesn't creep me out too much. We also were big bowlers, growing up we went to state championships and my brother was on the bowling team in college.

I grew up with nothing but beige walls around me so I throw color everywhere and it kills me that I can't paint my walls.

Thanks so much, and you're welcome. It really makes me feel so happy to do the designs and make families trips so much more meaningful.

Hey a fellow Hoosier!! I'm assuming Eeyore must attend one of the million different establishments of higher learning in this fine state! I was a Boiler, but unfortunately am stuck living in Irish country! :scared1:

I also followed you from DISign boards! You made that lovely Lady and the Tramp anniversary shirt for me! It's perfect! You are so talented! I can't believe you actually have a real job and still have time to fill all these requests!

Your trip with Eeyore sounds like a blast and i can't wait to hear more!

Yeah, Eeyore is a Boiler right now, we actually grew up in Kansas, but she's been out there for about two years and loves it. I've only visited her I think twice. I really should get out there more. When I meet her in Indianapolis she going to take me to the fountain on the campus and watch as she runs through it. I might actually join her, but I'm not sure if it's taboo if you're not a student.

She's sent me tons of Purdue gear and I wear it proudly I like to think of myself as an honorary Boiler.

My schedule at times can get pretty busy, but at others I could have like four days off in a row. Most of my work is contained from the hours of three to eleven, so it seems like I work a lot, but I tend to have tons of free time. I'm glad you enjoyed you enjoyed your design. Thanks.
