We just got back from our vacation to Disney (2 weeks of pure bliss, sad to be home!) and while we were there we checked out some of our possible reception venues. We are currently booked on October 13, 2016 ceremony at 12pm at Sea Breeze Point, reception at The Attic 1pm-4pm, and dessert party at UK Lockside. I know, normally the site visit comes before the booking, but we had to do it backwards based on when we could take the vacation.
Well, when we were in Disney, it was extremely hot, and the outside space at The Attic (where most of our guests would need to sit and eat) was extremely uncomfortable. We also went to see Ariel's and The Living Seas. We liked both, but we are not a fan of the $500 venue fee at Living Seas, along with having to provide transportation. Our consultant is holding all 3 spaces currently for us, but we need to decide basically by tomorrow.
Our consultant mentioned that we should check Ariel's during the afternoon since the pool party activities can be loud. We weren't planning on having a DJ since we are doing mini-Wishes and the reception is shorter. We went back at 2:30pm and oh man, that yelling on the mic was very noticeable and obnoxious. When it was just music, it wasn't so bad, but when the girl leading the activities was on the mic...yikes.
So anyone who has had their reception at Ariel's during the afternoon pool party, did you notice it? Did you have a DJ? If you had a DJ, was it enough to drown out the noise from outside? If you didn't have a DJ, did you have an iPod setup or something like that, and was that enough? We know that if we go with Ariel's, we will most likely have to do a DJ due to the outside noise.
We're just extremely disappointed because we loved the Attic from pictures, but once we got up there, the weather issue killed it for us. I know there is no way to know what the weather will be on our wedding day, so we don't want to chance it. It would just stress me out way too much worrying that it would be hot and people would be uncomfortable.
