Sorry to seem dumb but what exactly is it? Is it a meet and greet or does she tell stories? Can she get her picture taken with Ariel?

It's a meet and greet area. She can spend a few minutes talking to Ariel, get autographs, and take pictures.

Ariel's Grotto Fans of Ariel won't want to miss seeing the Little Mermaid in her home at the Magic Kingdom. Located behind Dumbo the Flying Elephant, fans can meet Ariel and get her autograph. This is also a great place for the kids to cool off in the kids water area and there is also a covered area for the adults. This area is wheelchair accessible. We have some pictures of it here:

We had a LOOOOONG wait, but it was for Ariel, so it was worth it when we finally did get to meet her.

Last week, Ariel's Grotto didn't open til about 90 minutes after the park opened. The Fairy Godmother at CRT gave us a tip to get there right when it opened to avoid long lines. We did and were grateful because we passed by it several times throughout the day and saw very long lines.

The other nice feature to the Grotto is that since it's in a "cave", you can hear everything Ariel says to your child. I find that the princesses at CRT talk in such a low voice that I can never hear what they're saying.

It usually does open well after the park opens - 90 minutes sounds about right.

Also, on cold days (unlikely to be an issue as we move further through the year), if Ariel is not in her grotto, she can sometimes be found over in Toontown with the other charcters there.
