Oh I am so bummed and frustrated!

We are going to POFQ next month. My MIL and both my SIL's and their fams are going too..but they are staying at a Value (can't remember which one off hand, I think it was Pop). Anyway...

My MIL got a pincode of some kind yesterday that was for a free upgrade to a Deluxe Villa! She was able to use it for their room, and my two SIL's rooms. I am excited for them but OH SO BUMMED. We paid extra for a mod because we wanted the fridge etc, and now they get a DELUXE even though they paid less! I guess I understand that's how codes work, but it is so hard to not feel like the whole thing is super unfair. :(

I guess I'm just having a little pity party for myself. They upgraded to Old Key West.... And I did call Disney today, but no such luck, we don't have the same code. I'm guessing the values are getting full for march and they are trying to clear out some space for last minute reservations..but still...sigh

blah...

I can see why you'd be upset, that is terribly unfair, but POFQ is such an awesome place. We leave in a month & I can't get a mod with my PIN because they're booked up, so I'd be ecstatic to have POFQ!!!!!
Do you know if your MIL had booked Pop at full price or with a pin code?
I'm just dreamin an upgrade might fall from the sky for us too!!!:cloud9:

Minnie,

Maybe you'll get it! (I'll keep my fingers crossed for you ;) ) She booked it online with the current public discount, I think it was 25% off the values??

And yes, we are still super excited about POFQ, this will be our first time there! It's just hard to hear about others in your traveling party getting a huge upgrade like that!!!

I hope you get your upgrade!

Thanks Arabella!!!! Enjoy POFQ, don't forget to try the beignets at the food court!

I fully understand what you are feeling.

I don't like to complain, because I've been able to take advantage of the odd code from time to time (never had a PIN offer in all the years we've been travelling to WDW, but there ya go).

Still, I know the res agents can't have an easy time of it and it's not their fault that certain things are offered to some and not to others, so I try not to get my shorts in a knot.

The fact is though, it would be nice if the discount codes and PINs were more balanced and fair.

We booked our 11th stay at the POFQ for the Flower and Garden festival and will be joining friends who are staying at the same resort. We all called the same day to book the POFQ and we all have AP's. They got the AP rates, we did not.

We are coming from a lot further than our friends who live in the US, so it takes about 7 hours and costs a small fortune (not Disney's fault we live so far away and the airfares are so high, and we have to worry about exchange rates). Also, we are staying twice as long at the resort as our friends and we have stayed at POFQ a greater number of times than our friends.

So it's a little difficult to swallow knowing that we will be staying right alongside our 2 sets of friends at POFQ who will be spending 40% less than us (and more like 50% if you consider the exhange rates). Even harder when we know we were the ones that planned this little escapade.

Oh well.... I'm just going to enjoy my time there and worry about paying the bills later.

I wouldn't keep going back if I didn't love Disney World so much, but the fact is, most of my experiences have been good so I try not to let these things get under my skin.

My point is that I do understand how you feel because there can often be a sense of eenie meenie when it comes to these discount codes and there really should be more of a set standard for how they are doled out.

Also, it would be nice to see Disney keep better track of repeat visitors and reward that loyalty and support. It shouldn't be so random. That's my 2 cents anyway :)

OP, that does stink. Sorry it happened to you. I too was wondering if MIL can add another room? Maybe one of the SIL got the code too and they could get a second room for you. Which villa did they choose? SSR or OKW. I'm going in March and staying at Pop for one night, so I'm guessing I'm not a good candidate for an upgrade. AP discount w/delux dining. What are the dates of the offer, just so I might get a glimmer of hope for a free one night upgrade, which would convince me to add another day.

Joining the chorus of others wondering if MIL could book a larger villa to accommodate your family and then you pay the difference between what she booked and the bigger one? I'm thinking that price would be the same, maybe even less than what you are paying at the Mod. Also, it is my understanding that her code is good for several rooms as long as the reservations are in her name, so why not book your room, too, if she was able to do so for SIL's?
