My boss sent me a Christmas gift to my house, and when I hadn't thanked him for it a couple days after Christmas, he suspected somthing was up and asked if I had gotten it. (A Godiva gift basket)

I told him no, and he tracked it, and it was showing delivered. He verified my address and asked if I thought one of my neighbors might have taken it--aboslutely not--my neighbors are SUPER!

Well, I just had a woman on a bicycle ring my bell...hmmm...

She asked if I was missing a package, and I said yes. Long story short, her cousins have a home one street over with the same numerical address. They moved out about three months ago, but haven't put it on the market yet, and she keeps an eye on it. She's been gone over the holidays and just stopped over to check on it, and saw the packaged with my name and address on it. It's been sitting there for almost two weeks now, because I remember seeing it on thier doorstep and thinking it was weird that anything would be delivered there because those people have moved.

Now I need to go over and get it, and let my boss know what happened. What a PITA. And I'm going to call Fed Ex or UPS (not sure which was delivering it) and let them know about thier screw up and make them deal with it if it's damaged--which it might be due to the terrible rain we had on Christmas when it was jsut sitting there.

I could understand if our street names were similar, but they are entirely different. And they are "drive" and mine is "lane." Morons.

We also had a Christmas gift misdirected. I had ordered a digital frame for DH and had it shipped to my parents' house. The delivery supposedly occurred during a huge power outage here, and my mom was sitting home in the dark expecting the package. The shipping co. said it was delivered, but clearly it was not, or at least not to the right address. It was frustrating because it was worth about $120, was one of the few gifts DH had asked for, and now didn't get.

Thankfully the vendor will be refunding the money from the claim, and we were able to reorder the item.

Sorry you had problems as well.

I feel ya. Two summers ago my DS, then 14, saved up his money from odd jobs all summer to buy a new $300 guitar. Someone from WAY down the street called us and said it had been delivered to their house. It was the same street but the house numbers were in no way similar. Thankfully they were honest and made sure it got to us. Don't know what delivery people are thinking sometimes.:confused3 Hope the gift is salvageable.

That stinks. I am always worried that something like that will happen when I have it shipped somewhere. Hopefully your basket is fine. If not, hope they make it right. Good luck.

Feel your pain. We’re STILL waiting for a gift that my aunt said she sent. I have a feeling we may never see it. :sad2: It was sent US postal and I am pretty sure she didn't insure it. I haven't told her yet, she going to be upset.
