Ok- I have to vent:

I booked our family vacation when the cnd code came out for free hoping and waterparks ect. I put my deposit down waaay before it was due and everything was fine. We started looking at flights and found a cheaper flight if we went a day earlier.. even with adding a day to our vacation ( Oh twist my arm a extra day at WDW) it was cheaper than flying out on a Saturday.
I called CRO and added the day, the CM was great and said it was not a problem, all was done and I hung up excited about my extra long trip with our new son ect. About 20 minutes later she called back to let us know that she accidently deleted our ressie and had a new reservation # for us because of her error. I asked about the deposit and she said that she had moved it over to the new reservation and that everything was fine.
So.. I decide to just check our online Credit card statement just to see the balance and see that we were credited back the deposit... Huh? I think, no she said it was taken care of. I check the online info on disneyworld.com and it says my deposit is due on the 19th. Hmmm my statement doesnt print until the 23rd... had I not checked it online I would not have known about the credit until it was too late.
So I called CRO and spoke to a very nice CM and she fixed everything and was very apologetic about what happened. Im a bit anoyed that I had to call back and fix it.. But Im glad I did.. What if nothing was available when I got my statement?
So if you change anything on your reservation, double check that they dont accidently cancel your reservation.
This is the first time Ive ever had a problem with CRO. Here's hoping that everything else goes smoothly..

There's another little problem with this...if you are doing the exchange back and forth, you'll lose money every time they refund you b/c the card company takes a cut on every transaction. (Let's say the actual exchange rate is 90 cents; Visa charges you 92 to "buy" American $ and only gives you 88 when you "sell" or are refunded, USD.) On our last trip we reserved and cancelled a few hotels while we were making our decision, and lost money every time. I'm trying to remember how much, something between $3 and $10, depending on how large the deposit was. This time I've made lots of changes but keep saying "don't refund me anything! Transfer it!" So far so good. It's not a lot of money, but it made me cranky.

Anyway, glad you figured it out and got it fixed. Yes, I need to call and check everything too, as I have made lots of changes...thanks for the prod.

I second that Coastgirl! That's why I got a USD CC. i would rather pay just once on exchange.

Hope it's all sorted out for you SaraMc.

Sorry to hear about the confusion with your ressie --- but glad to hear that they were able to get everything fixed up. I'm always a little nervous changing anything about trip reservations for exactly this reason.

We were thinking of doing the same thing. We've researched a couple of different ones but aren't sure which one to go with. Did you find anything in your research that made you go with one over another?

Good thing you were paying attention and called back!

I just went with my bank. What I don't like about mine (TDVISA) is that I can't check the transaction online. I do like that I can just call and make a transfer from my personal account.
