I hate how unpredictable hurricanes are. We are sitting here talking about a hurricane that could hit us in 3 days yet that's all it is, COULD!

I'm in Palm Beach County Florida, the South East side of Florida. As of right now, if the hurricane was set in stone, it would go in on the west side of Fl and come out right through us.

At first they said it would be a 3 when it hit and wouldn't lose steam and probably still be a strong 2 by the time it hits us. Now they say it will be 1 when it hits the west coast so who knows what it would be when it hit us.

They are saying it could go wayyyyyyyyyy north or wayyyyyyy south. They cancelled school for St Lucie county who is 40 miles NORTH of us for Monday but as of now we still have school on monday. Yet in Miami, which is 60miles south of us, Max Mayfield (head of hurricanes) and some other head of emergency operations both live in Miami and they both said they are putting shutters up.

Our newscasters are saying it "could" hit us but he's pretty confident that the track is going to move and we should go along as if a hurricane is going to hit us but not to worry or panic or all. Even saying not to worry about shutters as of now.

WHAT THE HECK ARE WE TO BELIEVE??? It's driving me nuts. I know no one knows, but that's frustrating. We have gas and water and soups and all. But not sure about the stupid shutters, it's a pain in the you know what to get them up on our 2 story house.

Anyone else in it's "supposed" track feeling this frustrated??

Yes, I live in the Tampa area and all these hurricanes are getting really old. We have been extremely lucky in the past and this one should go well south of us, but the anticipation is a killer. My office runs 24x7 and our Facilities Team has been preparing gel bags to seal all the entry ways in case of flooding. My GF and I are going to WDW for the weekend and will probably be leaving just as Wilma is hitting the coast.

At least the season is almost over. :dancer:

Hey, I'm in denial about Wilma. :teeth: We have water, food and the necessary bleach. :teeth:

Seriously, I'm so sick of these preparations. I'm S of your county. We really don't want to put up the shutters and bring in junk, but it looks like we'll have to. There are 4 houses in my neighborhood that had their shutters up this morning. They weren't up yesterday afternoon. :confused3

Here we go again... :badpc: :badpc:   :bitelip:

No one here has put them up yet... we wouldn't be able to until Sat anyway because hubby works and I can't do it myself.

Just got back from S Florida. I hope the above posters are OK, since they probably can't get back online until they get their power back. And when will that be?

That is the price you pay for living in FL. I don't find it any different than when I lived up North and they predicted snow storms. They told you to prepare, that it was going to be bad and then at the last minute it switched course and we didn't get it.

I went through 3 hurricanes last year and all you can do is watch and wait. If you are prepared there isn't anything else you can do.

Suffering without electricity and phones, etc. isn't fun. I did it last year but I wouldn't move from Florida.
