Are your Christmas presents from Santa?

Like most people, my wife and I had different experiences growing up. When I was little, I remember that most (if not all) of the presents I received were "from" Santa. Until I was older, I never received gifts that were "from" my brothers or sister. I do remember making crafts to give to my parents, but that was about it.

My wife on the other hand received gifts "from" Santa, The Elves, Rudolph, etc. as well as her parents and her sisters. And every Christmas Eve, Mrs. Claus delivered new pajamas. This is what we have adopted at our house for our children.

So I'm just curious, when you were growing up, who were your presents "from", and/or, who do your children receive their presents "from"?

We had presents from Santa (as least as long as there was a kid that still believed) as well as stuff from our parents.

Once we all got old enough to know the "truth" I dont know if Santa still came along or if M&D had their names on all of the presents.

One present from Santa for each child (usually the big gift), everything else comes from parents, grandparents, siblings, etc.

We also never wrapped the Santa gift.

when we were young, all of our presents were from santa, and none were wrapped. they were there and set up and ready to play with that morning. I remember wondering why we got things from our grandparents, but never our parents! lol. greedy little kid, hmm?

when we stopped believing, things were wrapped, but the tags still said santa. and I thought that was pretty cute.

my kids are still young and we have always done things the way I did as a kid...all from santa, none wrapped. for the first time this year I am wrapping some, but not all (like dh's family did, apparently).

While there was still a believer in the house all but one gift was from Santa. And Santa always left the "big" gift unwrapped.

Now, its just DD, so pretty much the same, all but one gift is from Santa and Mom and Dad also give one small gift on Christmas Eve and PJ's to wear for Christmas morning!

Also, DD has the Magic Elves (Carissa and Daniel) that "visit" and play silly tricks from Thanksgiving to Christmas. There is always a gift from Carissa and one from Daniel. Always something small, a token gift for her to remember them throughout the year. She has had the elves since she was just short of two (her birthday is first of December). And that tradition goes on today.

I grew up with most of the gifts wrapped (only certain ones like a bike were not wrapped) and they all were from Santa. No gifts were from/to each other except our parents for each other.

I also got gifts from Santa that he forgot and left at my Nana's house. ;)

Santa also fills the kids stockings. Hubby and I fill each others stockings.

I think new pajamas every year would be a great tradition if I was starting out my family again. I'd have them be from me to my kids and give them on Christmas eve. :)

I've continued the tradition as I was raised. I buy special 'Santa' wrapping paper and tags. All the kids wrapping paper is the same so we need tags.

We always bake sugar cookies right before Christmas to leave for Santa. Milk and homemade cookies are put out.

My girls are 11 and 14 and we do NOT discuss the 'is there really a Santa or not' subject. Don't ask, don't tell. ;)

Santa will always come to our house! :)

Santa also always puts out the baby Jesus in our Nativity.

Our gifts always all came from santa and they were always wrapped in special paper for each child so I didn't have to use tags!

As a kid, all gifts were from Santa until one year, I asked my mom why she never gave us anything for Christmas.

For my kids, siblings and parents give to each other and specially Santa themed wrapped presents appear on Christmas morning. I have never written "from Santa" on them though. They just assume that he brought them.

This year is different. Two kids will have their Big gifts set up. The other has a big gift that is actually small. Not sure how that will be handled, yet.

presents from Santa.....never wrapped (both when I was a child, DH was a child and for our children)

Also wrapped presents from parents and siblings

Santa still stuffs all the stockings

Growing up, our "big gift" was from Santa, and smaller ones were from Mom and Dad...don't remember specifically, but I don't "think" we gave siblings gifts until we earned our own money...

When my sister had her kids (she had hers before me) she said "Why should Santaget the credit for the good stuff?" so Santa gives something smaller and Mom and Dad give the biggies. I liked her idea, so Santa gives a DVD, and the girls give one gift to each other (dh and I pay for it, with a price limit) that they pick out, and we (dh and I) give the biggies...

Santa also does the stockings....

Jesus is the main reason for the season in our home, and gifts are given to celebrate the Gift of Salvation Jesus represents...Santa gives gifts for the same reason.

I don't think I've ever asked dh about his childhood on this subject, but knowing his mother, I expect Santa was a bigger deal than Jesus, even though they're "supposedly" Christians...:confused3

When I was growing up, all my Christmas presents were from Santa.

When our children were growing up all their presents were from Santa as well.

DD does it differently with their children, half the presents are from Santa and the other half are from her and her DH. I like that idea. :)

Growing up, we got presents from both Santa and Mom&Dad. When were little, Santa had his own wrapping paper and would just write our names on the tags. I don't remember if the "big" gifts were from him or not.

One tradition that my family did that I loved was on Christmas Eve we would have to look out for Rudolph's nose. My grandfather was never around to see it though! Turns out he was in the back yard with a red flashlight - we lived in a very rural area so no street lights. I believed for a long time because of that. Once we saw Rudolph's nose it was time for bed.

My husband is Jewish, so I'm the one who is doing the Christmas/Santa stuff. I wrap the presents for my two boys in different paper (Santa uses fun Scooby Doo and Mickey Mouse paper). We picked two presents for each boy from Santa and the rest are from us. I think we're going to attempt the Rudolph thing this Christmas Eve.

All of the gifts are from santa, unwrapped. All they get from us are new jammies. Of course, the older kids have figured it out, so eventually we get the credit we deserve.

Growing up Santa always brought the few things I had on my list while mom and dad got the rest. Santa also always brought the family gift. One year it was a new tv, one year it was a DVD player, that kind of stuff.

Now that I am older "santa" brings the stocking presents.

When I was young the stockings (and a few unwrapped things that wouldn't fit into the stocking) were from Santa. The rest of the gifts were all from our parents, until we got old enough to get gifts for each other as well. Now we do the same thing with my child.

All our gifts were from Santa until we were 8/9 and discovered the truth.

Let's see.. Some from Santa, some from my parents, some from other relatives (aunts, uncles, grandparents), but oddly enough - now that you mention it - us siblings never had anything from one another until we were adults.. Hmm.. Never thought about that before..:santa:

my gifts growing up were from my folks, santa and my grandmother. with my kids the big gift is from santa, others from us and g'parents and we have them exchange 1 gift to each other.
