Yep, that's what I just got asked. I'm at work (front desk of an entertainment venue) and one of the boss lady types just walked through and said "You're glowing. Are you pregnant?" First of all, who says that? Second...I sure hope not! Ugh, when someone says something like that it just makes you worry so much, you know?

She finally decided it was my new haircut.

That is funny!

Women should know not to ask other women that question....

A guy I work with always asks that everytime a women complains about a stomach ache, headache, fever, etc... etc...

Because we all know women only feel ill when they're pregnant. :confused3

Ugh!

The girl at my salon asked me 8 weeks after I gave birth to my DD. It really got to me. I had been exercising and thought I looked great.

Why do women do this? :confused3

Even if I'm sure someone is pregnant, I still don't ask. DH can usually tell if a woman is pregnant. He's been right 6 times. It's kind of creepy. :earboy2:

GLOWING?

I say, "Well I guess I'm either radioactive, or its my new foundation." (There's actually foundation makeup named "Glowtion".)

Better a haircut than just a big gut. I got asked that a lot - had to say - no, I'm just still big from the last one!

That is a dangerous question to ask! Maybe she thought it was OK because you are a newlywed. I remember getting a lot of questions RIGHT AFTER my wedding about when we would be having our first baby. I told them to slow down... a lot. :)

Forgot to mention it's a little hot in here...So technically I might not be glowing-more like sweating!

You know though, just kinda makes you feel a little crappy, even though I think she originally meant it as a compliment in her own little screwed up way. I've been comforting myself with the fact that I grew up with her daughter and I remember her dropping the girl off at dance class and pulling out, never even realizing she ran over her daughter's foot. If she's that clueless, then that somehow makes me feel better.

What is it Bill Cosby says? " the only time you ask a woman if shes pregnant is if you actually SEE a baby coming forth from her loins!"

:)

LOL

You must have a REALLY great haircut :)

You know, I bet she's feeling worse than you do! I'm sure she was humiliated to a point where she didn't know what to say :rotfl:

See, I was thinking I must have a really BAD haircut. (Don't they always tell pregnant women not to get haircuts because they do things they wouldn't normally? I know DSIL was told that constantly)

Invite her out for happy hour. That's kill any rumors. (That's what a friend of mine did earlier this year. We had to go to the local tavern (VERY small town) and have dinner and drinks so everyone could see her drinking. I even invited my pregnant sister in law so they could see a pregnant woman and two non pregnant women.

I said we were going to sit at the bar and do shots all night long. We didn't but it was really funny.

Maybe it's me, but I don't see the offense in this comment. If that is the OP in her signature, then she obviously doesn't look pregnant (as in, weight gain). Perhaps you just looked especially good today, and the coworker, thinking along the lines of "Married three months, looks especially happy and glowy today...hmmm..." just said something.

Happens around this place all the time, and I know it's never meant as anything but a compliment or a fishing expedition.

that's ok. i went to a women's college and anytime you went to the health center they asked if you were pregnant. uhh.. yeah, because i meet so many men here.

As a married adult who is 30 and has several friends over 30, I've learned that asking when they're going to have children is one of the rudest things they can do. I know too many people who have either not been able to conceive or have lost many pregnancies.

It's something I NEVER do, unless I know the person very well and we razz each other about it.

We used to work with a guy who was engaged, but they didn't ever plan on getting married, she just wanted a ring. I used to say we'd have kids when he got married.

Given the mood I'm in today I probably would have looked at her and said, "No, I'm not pregnant. Are you?"

Actually, I was asked that once! Turns out the next day the same girlfriend forced me to take a pregnancy test and it was positive! I would have sworn I wasn't, but she somehow knew... weird. :confused3

But my dd is 5 now and the sweetest thing on earth! :earsgirl:

Oh, I'm not really offended. It's sort of a stressful statement though, if that makes sense. At the same time, it could be offensive depending upon the situation, but for me it's not, just a little weird.
