We're looking at trading for HI and I was wondering if anyone has ever been upgraded from their original reservation. Please tell me when you went and what the upgrade was.... IF there was one.

I'm sure it's happened but you need to know how exchanging works. In general, the order of unit assignments go something like this. Owners at that resort, those that rent for cash FROM the resort, other exchangers with priority (internal trading priority), other exchangers and bonus weeks. In some cases you may be allowed to pay for an upgrade. I think it was about $70 per day at the Embassy Maui for a 1 BR, we said no as we had two units and being close together was the important thing. At resorts like Cliff's Club and Lawaii Beach, exchangers truly get the bottom of the barrel. At places like the Marriott's and Embassy's, it will not be as bad but the principles are the same. That's one of the reasons why direct exchanges can work so well as you get a chance to move up the ladder, chose your unit type or even the specific unit for fixed week systems (like the Royals in Cancun).
