Are you cutting back?

Are you cutting back compared to past trips? In what ways? Any idea on how much you think you'll save?

We're actually going down more. I had to give up my two weeks off in the Spring and divide it up into two, one week stays. The DVC is still a wonderful thing.

We have cut back on food. Not so much for money, but, we tend to gain weight at WDW.

Can't afford to cut back. My country needs us. I am just using cash instead of credit.

We have stayed at Moderates our last two trips and decided to stay at POP this time just to save a few hundred dollars. Really, we don't spend much time at our rooms anyhow,we will miss the waterslides at the pool, but we are going to go to one of the waterparks this time so :confused3 it wont matter much. We have been lucky, my hubbys job has not been affected and I work as a ER nurse so I have no fear for my job..but it seems everything is getting more and more expensive.
Oh and we were planning on going in December but decided to take advantage of free dining instead since that is such a good deal in my opinion (we always buy the dining plan)

We're shopping less in the parks, but that's mostly because we've been so many times recently and just don't need/want any more souvenirs. I'm sure the baby will be getting her first mouse ears and the big kids will expand upon their pressed penny collections, but the amount of shopping we do has gone down with each successive trip.

Maybe subconsciously, but we're not making a deliberate effort to cut back.

Um. No.

Actually, we're taking 7 more people than usual, going to a Moderate rather than a value, and spending twice as long on our total vacation than we ever have before.

We're very blessed in our jobs, and are finally getting the point in our life where we've caught up from eloping in college and starting our family right away. ;) So we figure we'll help stimulate the economy. :rotfl:

I would have to say no. We stayed at CBR last time and was for 7 nights. We are going for 9 nights and staying AKL this time.

Yep! We got seasonal passes this year instead of annual. But we don't go when its busy LOL. And we don't go in the dead of summer. Our 5th child is due August 1st so I know I won't be going in July when I'm huge and hot and oh the thought of it makes me want to sit in the freezer hahaha. The only dates that are blocked out that we would want to go are June 14 (hubbys birthday) and April 12 (Easter). Easter, I'm just taking my 6 yr old in to ride Haunted and back out (he is addicted and its his birthday). I'll meet the rest of my family at DTD for shopping and Rainforest Cafe (DS's favorite restaurant - gag me!) He gets in free and I have an annual pass for parking. DH's birthday is June 14 and a black out date and he and I will escape for the day to Disney as our "last hurrah" before the baby is born. He is free and I have an annual. So the only 2 days we would go still work out for us LOL. :)

When we move back to Orlando in about 18 months or so, we will upgrade/renew to annual passes for all.

I don't think you'll be disappointed in POP, especially if you have little ones. The theming is a lot of fun. There's not much to the pools, but there are a couple of water "play areas" with water spouts and such. We usually only get a small amount of time at the pool but the kids have a good time.

We're just putting off going again for a while, as far as I know. We can't trust ourselves to be frugal in the parks. We love eating at those great restaurants and staying at the deluxe resorts too much.

actually no, we are taking a trip this year inspite of the economic situation all around us and am doing several spurges this trip that we would not normally do. I agree w/ PP that I am very thankful of the security in dh & my jobs - and even more so, in the restraint that dh & I have shown over the years, (not over-buying, living within our means, saving and using cash to buy not credit) and as a result, even with reduced incomes, are still in very good financial shape as oppose to a lot of other people. Not being judgemental of other people's financial position, just grateful we are in the one we are in and crediting ourselfs with steps taken over the past 12 years of our marriage to ensure we are in this position.

Not yet, but depending on how things shape out in the future we may have to slow down a bit.

Yes, we decided not to park hop next trip, but no we are going twice this year and staying at a deluxe for the first time.

We were at the World in March and loved the buy 4 get 3 deal. I am considering another trip for SWW in June. If this trip happens it will be bare bones. We will stay at the POP again but will not have park hoppers (we only used two days in March) will switch to the CS meal plan and shop very little if any. The question is.... Can we stick to this plan???

Yes and no. We are cutting back on our ADR's for TS and plan on eating more CS in June and doing less shopping. But now we are looking at going back to WDW in Aug because of the price of airfare. I was planning on visiting some relatives in UT in Aug, but noticed that it's cheaper to fly to Orlando from Seattle than to SLC. :confused3 It doesn't make much sense to me since Orlando is clear across the country, but you don't have to ask me twice where I would rather be! :woohoo:

We upgraded to a deluxe because of the 4/3, but the whole Disney trip for us is a $ cutback from what we would have done as a vacation otherwise. I've been making ADRs at some of the splurge restaurants and haven't had trouble getting roughly the times we want, even a couple of weeks out. So I think a lot of people are cutting back on eating out.

Nothing has changed in our area to ponder cutting back. We were in WDW in January 2009 and looking to go again this fall, September/October. We're going to get extra value out of our AP's. We've logged 42 trips so far and our trips are just about at the bottom in money spending. We will not compromise on the resort, WL all the way, and last trip we purchased the AP's so this coming fall trip, no ticket expense. We have all the souvenirs we could ever use so no spending money there. We go a huge grocery/alcohol stop before arriving so no money spent at Disney on that and we do not do dining plans, no money saver there for us. We split most meals. So our trips are just about rock bottom and do not see canceling any. We're not into TS meals, alot of time, poor food and alot of money, CS serves us fine and we're there for the resort relaxation and parks.

Nope we added two nights to our ever growing number of days we go. We are up to 18 nights this year - still at POP, this is how we go for longer, we stay at the values.

We are conserving by not buying AP's this year - just in case something happens and we can't afford to go next year, but it was a no brainer for us because of the military free tickets and doing partial free dining and having to buy a 1 day anyway.

That is exactly how we felt when we were there....infact, for the whole 10 days that we were in WDW the stocks seemed to be on the up and up, but once we got home, they started to plummet again....who would of thunk, I guess this just means that we need to book another vacation just to help out the country. :goodvibes
