Are you big on tradition?

Every year on DD's birthday we go somewhere together, just the two of us. That's an important tradition for us. We've gone to the Pittsburgh Zoo, Idlewild, WDW. Even if we dont' go someplace far away, we always spend the day together. I hope we keep that tradition for a long time. Next year I plan on taking her to the beach for her birthday.

yes and no...do I want to eat turkey on Thanksgiving? Yes, but I also love turkey and the whole Thanksgiving feast. If I didn't like the food, I don't think I'd care too much.

I certainly don't have to watch the same movie over and over or have a specific CD on while decorating on a certain day. When it gets done it gets done. There are very few "ALWAYS" things. I'm definitely go with the flow.

Do we 'always' have turkey on Thanksgiving, yes but we don't have a specific Christmas meal or special birthday meal.

I definitely think birthday's need to be recognized (but I don't have to have the same type of cake every year) at least by parents and grandparents.

I think Valentines Day is a pretty bs holiday (yes I'm a woman too!) and anniversaries should be acknowledged but not overdone.

Does this make sense?

Holiday traditions (Thanksgiving/Christmas) are very important to me, I think because I remember doing them with my grandparents, parents, siblings, and now with my children.

Birthdays and Anniversaries are also important, even if you don't spend a lot of money, they still need to be recognized.

Tradition can be a pain in the rear end but it is important. I have memories and a foundation in our traditions. I want my children to have the same.

Always loved to keep up traditions, but when someone in the family dies and others are brought into it the traditions seems to fade away. One tradition I miss is our family Christmas sing along. Yes, may sound corny, but since mom died and dad remarried that died along with mom. I tired to start it back up, but no one was interested. Plenty of other traditons disappeared also. So sad.

I am very big on traditions. I'm a traditional kind of girl. Thanksgiving dinner I could live without because I don't like turkey, but DH, DD and DS10 do. My parents come every year. I do the same things for Christmas every year. I bake cookies (dozens of them), Christmas cards, decorating, parties. I have lots of obsessive/complusive tendencies so traditions are important to me. DH has learned to live with them and has embraced most of them. The kids love and enjoy the time we spend together as a family.

Yes and no. I am big on tradition in that I love the holidays and I have certain ways that I have to celebrate. But because my parents were divorced and lived in two different cities, I could care less about what day we celebrate. My brother and I spent many Christmas mornings on a plane from Dallas to Houston, and then being shuttled to ALL the different sets of grandparents. Now we set up the week-ends before and after Christmas to see everyone.

My first date with DH was on Valentine's day. I hate crowds and I am too cheap to let him buy me flowers and dinner on the 14th. We go out sometime during February and are happy.

Dh thinks it is a sin not to eat turkey and dressing on Thanksgiving. So we go to his mom's and eat it. Since I dipise the IL's, I plan on going to my Grandmother's afterward to put a time limit on IL's.

I must blitz shop on Friday. Got to do it. Lost for a whole year if I don't.

We either go camping the friday evening after thanksgving or we put up the tree. (Because of FEMA) were are putting up the tree this year.

Sat and Sun I'll wrap present's and see if anything is missing.

Place presents Strategically under tree from first one's needed to last for grab and dash

Christmas weekend before- the IL's (which is good, I won't have to worry about them messing up my x-mas)

Christmas eve- my parents house. Good home put kids to bed- santa comes

Christmas morning- play with toys

Afternoon- go to my grandmother's see who got the socks this year (yes, evey year someone gets socks)

By dec 30 all christmas decorations are down

I don't know if it is tradition as much as a game plan, but we have been doing it for ten years
