Are you an early riser at Disney?

Are you an early riser at Disney

  • Yes - I get up early anyways and it's the best time to get to the parks

  • I'm not usually, but make a point to at WDW to get there for rope drop

  • Are you kidding me, it's a vacation I get up when I feel like it

We've taken a break from the parks for the last 4 years and enjoyed annual cruises. We are back for our first full park trip this June and am finalizing ADRs and plans for FP+

Our plan this trip is to be up early to allow for pre park opening ADRs and mid day breaks at the resort.

I was just curious - are you an early riser at Disney?

I'm a morning person... I actually wish they opened EARLIER. Morning EMH is the greatest thing ever! Technically I could have also picked option #3. Because it's the same to me as option #1 ;) Hehe.

Did not vote as we don't fit any of your criteria. We get up early some days, some days after rope drop, but not much later. We tend to go by our feelings and play it by ear as we're on vacation and relaxing. We 'do not' usually take breaks outside the parks, but most times just park hop and that is a break to us.

You need an "other". When I'm there with friends, we typically get to the parks around 9:30-10:00. So not rope drop but not "get up when I feel like it". We're going in May, we probably will hit rope drop with the new fastpass system. When I go on solo trips, I typically get to the parks 10:00-10:30.

Also an "other." With a 7 year old who can't sleep past 6 am no matter how late he was up the night before. Might as well have breakfast in the room and hit rope drop. (And wishing I had known Value Resorts don't have coffee makers in the room when I booked...Because I need a few hours to feel human in the morning...)

Our strategy 1. Parks early. 2 Go back to the hotel hottest part of the afternoon to swim and relax. 3. Go back to the parks early evening

I am an early riser at home and on vacation! Unfortunately DD and DH are not, they sleep in even on vacation.

I am NOT a morning person at all, so you can just imagine how funny people find it that I go on vacation and get up at or before sunrise :rotfl: But I do. We make sure we have a few late starts in between to relieve the pain.

I'm surprised to see how many people here are early risers. Unless the late sleepers are still in bed and will vote later on when they get up

We are #3.....however, on our upcoming trip, we are going to attempt the rope drop strategy.....can't wait to see how it goes....:faint:

This is sounds like the plan that works well for the most people. I think that waking up early is the way to go.

Pretty much the same thing for us. We get up by an alarm or we'd def sleep till 10:00 or 11:00 :rolleyes2 but we are not RD people. We try to get to the parks by 10:00 and we do usually come back for a break especially if we are going to be out past 9:00 that night which is often for us we're night peeps!

Hard to pick one. I am not a morning person in that I want to be up but I have kids so its not really a choice. Also, DH gets up at 4:30 each day so sleeping until 6-7 IS sleeping in for him. Since everyone is up, I use the time to get there for RD and make the most of the morning. I would rather get up with everyone and have low crowds, it is still my vacation even if I don't get to sleep in.
Vacation is the only time I do not mind getting up early, the rest of the year it is necessary.

We're early risers in Disney. At home I get up at 5:30am so not having my alarm go off until 6:30am in WDW is sleeping in for me! DD gets up at 6am at home but will often sleep until 30 minutes before we leave for the parks. I love RD and being able to accomplish what we want with minimal wait times.

I am a Disney commando! I get up early and stay late. Sometimes I get a family revolt, but I just can't help trying to maximize every minute.

I'm the early riser in the family, and I make sure everyone is up and ready for rope drop. Not only that, but I frequently run 5-8 miles in the morning prior to getting everybody up. I'm going to try to do some non-rope-drop mornings on our next trip, but it really is my preferred way to plan and tour.

Early riser as well (7 am). Hit the food court for breakfast at 7:30, then off to the bus stop. I'm at the parks before rope drop.
