I :lovestruc LOVE :lovestruc Tinsel on a christmas tree!

are you one?

& it has to be put on perfectly,, none of this,, giving up & just tossing the stuff on.
it has to be started INSIDE the tree, so the lights reflect on it & makes the tree open up. then. it has to be layered on each branch tip from bottom of tree to the top, so it hangs just right. yea it takes some time but wow does it make a diff doing it right!

instead of a ladder , we ( or should I say "I" since no one else wants to bother with this :confused3:lmao:) sometimes use a nail in a piece of wood that the pieces are put on & then draped on to the branch.
one year, we even used a hairdryer to float the stuff up on the tree, but it was during the "just-get-it-done" phase year. our trees are usually over 10 ft.

I am still waiting for the decorations to get put on the tree so I can finish MY part............ I am hoping I can get away with 20 boxes of tinsel this year.

now I know people who would rather have NO tree than to put tinsel on it!
it looks,, well sooooooo naked.

yea its a pain, & like needles you find tinsel till june in your house. & we don't let the animals in the room where the tree is.

:goodvibes

No. Don't really care for the way it looks, and it's a big ol' mess. But, more power to the people who like it! :thumbsup2

I thought I was the last person left who still used tinsel!

Love the way the lights reflect. It is a mess but sooo worth it!

When we had a real tree and we would just dispose of the tinsel along with the tree, I LOVED tinsel! It looks so nice when done correctly.
But due to allergy issues, we've had to resort to an artificial tree. I can't imagine having to remove all of the tinsel from the tree before putting it away each year. So no more tinsel at our house. I really don't like garland either though, so we just go without. We have plenty of shiny/glittery ornaments on our tree to make it shine! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Love the way tinsel looks on the tree. I think it adds that finishing touch and reminds me of when I was a kid.

I just put on a little bit though...less than 1 box on our 6 ft tree.

Growing up mom always used tinsel and snow flocking. By the time I was doing my own tree, had a deep hatred of both.

It does look pretty, but I want nothing to do with it.

Nope, no tinsel here. We have cats. And I hate the way it looks.

Absolutely LOVE it! But with kitties it is a thing of the past. We actually had to check out our 2nd tree very carefully because we haven't used it in a few years and there were still a few pieces of tinsel in it. We have always had an artificial tree because of my allergies.

I am a careful placer until I get bored/tired then I get a little less careful! Only one box needed though.

Nope. I have enough ornaments that it is never needed. Plus I had cats most of my life so we never used it.

Nope, I'm a dog person not a tinsel person. ;) I don't string popcorn or cranberries anymore either.

No tinsel on my tree.... we have five cats, and that stuff can be deadly if they eat it.

No tinsel here either. Cat and puppy... We had it when we were growing up and I was the perfectionist like OP.

It is so funny that you posted this today because I spent all morning driving to 4 different stores looking for....you guessed it....TINSEL. We LOVE tinsel too, but evidently we are in the minority because no one is selling it this year. Went to one Walmart, Target, CVS and finally the 2nd Walmart had some. Some of the people I asked for help didn't even know what tinsel was :confused3 They kept trying to show me the cheesy metallic garland ;)

No tinsel for the past 18 years. I have cats and cannot use it. I used to use spun glass for snow on my dosplays but that has nto been in my house for at least 20 years

our cvs had it last week for 25% off.
& used a 5$ off 15$ coupon
:woohoo:

have seen it at walmart/kmart/discount drugmart

I have dogs, cats AND tinsel!! I just try to keep it towards the top of the tree. I just NEED to use it, i love the sparkle it gives off.

Definite yes! I'm pretty anal about it too. For years when DD was very young I would cringe because she had to help put the tinsel on and of course would just toss it up in the air at the tree. Thank goodness she's over all that and I can take control again. :rotfl:

Do you remember the stuff years ago that had the kinks in it. It hung and looked so much better than the stuff they sell today. It took me about 10 years of looking for it before I learned the reason they stopped selling it was because it had lead in it. Somehow that had something to do with the reason it was crinkly.

Nope, not with a dog, 2 cats and a kitten, no way. This year we are thinking of getting a small tree because we are worried about the kitten climbing it, he's already trying to climb the ficus tree we brought in when it started to freeze outside.....lol
