Are you a perfectionist?

Anyone a perfectionist? My boss at work, puts in 12-14 hour days. When he writes a memo- he uses paper and pen. It will take him all day to write a one page memo (that I would finish in an hour). By the time he finishes the memo there is 50 pieces of paper in the waste basket with rejected rough drafts. His final memo is in fact perfect, but it takes him so long to get things done.

Perfectionist: does this describe you at work or home?

No way! My Dad is a perfectionist, and years of living with him and his perfectionism jaded me. I say if it's moderately OK - it's more than good enough for me. :teeth:

Yes I am. I've seen studies that have shown that perfectionists are less productive. I would agree with this. They also tend to procrastinate as they don't like to start something until the perfect moment and when they know they will do it perfectly. I also agree with this.

Nope. I wouldn't consider myself a perfectionist. I try to do things right, but nothing is worth threatening over to the point of driving yourself and others crazy.

This guy is a boss of some sort and spends all day editing himself by hand with paper and pen?? Can the company not afford computers :confused3?? If they have computers, what kind of company lets a guy become a boss who doesn't use them? It must be a school district :duck:. (And before anyone says anything, I work in the schools :p).

Nope, I'm pretty content to do things half assed.

I'm definitely a perfectionist when it comes to doing things.

Others, though -- like keeping a straight house (as in non-cluttered, not as in dirty) -- I'm very lazy and slacked.

I'm not, by any means, but I used to work with a guy that was. He was a VP and also couldn't use the computer. I'd type up the minutes for a particular meeting and he'd change a word here and a word there and keep it up for the 3 months until the next meeting. I finally went to my boss (also his boss) and asked if I could just give the guy 3 chances and after that he'd be done. So, I would label them Draft 1, Draft 2, and You're Done Now. :rotfl: I was SO glad that this was really the only time I had to work with him. He was a great guy but could be a huge PIA when it came to that kind of thing.

No. If I was, I would never have married my DH and would never have had children.
