Are you a hugger?

We've established that kissing someone on the cheek or both cheeks in greeting or farewell is very much a European thing, but what about a hug hello/goodbye?

I am a hugger but mostly with my parents and sister.
I don't even hug my best friend because I know she's not a hugger (although we have hugged when one of us is very upset).
I don't hug people I'm not close to but if someone hugs me I will hug back even if it feel awkward.

We were a hugging type family. Also a kissing on the cheeks one too. Though Covid and time have changed that to some extent. Both are less common now.

Depends both on the person and the situation.

I don't however want nor really like kisses on the cheek never really have (outside of a significant other).

NO

You can literally see me cringe anytime I'm confronted by a hugger who jumps in for a hug. I will respond as best as possible to not make it any more socially awkward but in general, I'm very limited in who is OK touching me. Like I don't even like mani pedis or massages because having a stranger put their hands on me makes me stiffen up.

I'm a hugger I admit it, lol. I hug others on greeting or meeting for the first time. If someone looks hesitant, of course, I won't hug. I hug on hellos and goodbyes at family gatherings. We are all big on hugs.

I hug my husband and one of my daughter in laws.
Neither my other daughter in law* nor my 2 sons* are huggers.
My in-laws are huggers, and I don't like hugging them, so on the rare instances we are in same room together I will avoid that by keeping busy and just saying 'hi' from across the room.
I didn't grow up in a hugging family, but now that my folks are older we hug each other when we see one another periodically throughout the year, but that only started when they moved farther away.

*obviously, things like when they got married or graduated I hugged them!

I wouldn't say I'm NOT a hugger, but I don't always hug people. I hug close friends and family in greeting or farewell that I haven't seen for a while or not going to be seeing for a while - maybe a month or more. I might randomly hug when something exciting has happened in their life, they need comfort, etc.

DH and I randomly hug at least daily and we often randomly hugged the kids when they lived with us. I don't know if I'd hug the kids all the time now. I don't see them more than once a month so they get hugged hello and goodbye. If they lived next door and I saw them daily I probably wouldn't hug them every time. I try to be aware with their significant others if they want a hug.
