Are you a haver or a doer?

So what do you prefer to do with your money? If you received a nice chunk of cash would your rather purchase something to have or spend it on doing something? (Yes, I know all of us good little economists here would save it, but that's not part of my game, so you're not allowed to say that ;) . Let's live in a little dream world for a minute, shall we?)

I prefer to DO stuff with my money. Trips, vacations, concerts, evenings out, etc. It's a problem, I guess, because there's not much left to show for it later, but that's me.

On the other hand I know people who love to collect things, shop for certain special things, etc. Not me.

What about you?

If the game is I can't use the money to put on a morgage or for savings then I am a doer too.

If I had a large sum of money dropped in my lap I would go to India and China (both places are my dream vacation)

I am absolutely a doer. As long as I have somewhere to lay my head at night, food, and a computer I would rather spend the rest of my money experiencing life.

Even in my dream world, I'm a saver. ;) Nothing makes me happier than to have money socked away--neither doing things or buying things. When I am at a comfortable level, then we mainly do things with a small portion of the money--trips, etc. Then I go right back to saving again.

Since socking away towards kids college fund isnt part of the game LOL, Im a doer. I love to travel, etc, create memories, that's what I would do!

Definitely a doer - After I die my family will probably sell my possessions at a yard sale for a buck - the experiences I get to bring with me to heaven.

We had a little windfall due to an unexpected inheritance (didn't even know we would be in the will). We did both- haver and doer- we bought more points in DVC! Using some of them this weekend!

Both.

We've gotten a few windfalls in the past few years. 1 went to purchase a new car, 1 went to charity, and one was put into a CD for a once-in-a-lifetime trip. Still have the car, and took the trip. Of course, now we're saving for a second once in a lifetime trip. ;) The charitable giving just felt right. It was money left by my deceased mother; I did nothing to earn or deserve it, and was prepared to spend every of it on her care had she lived longer, so never felt it was "mine."

I got to go to China 2 years ago, now India is still on my list! That is funny because I have had those 2 same things on my list for a long time!

Well, considering I actually NEED living room furniture and prices are killing me, I would start there.

But I would most definitely travel.

Much rather travel, do something, etc.

But can I get a souvie, too? I want to DO a lot and HAVE a little something to remember it by.

If I can't save it, then I would definitely "do" something with it.. :)

I'm not really into much in the way of material things..

both. For instance when the got the stimulus we used $800 for new family room carpet(badly needed) and put the rest in savings.

Doer!!!

DD is 11 and we only have so many years together to make those family memories! When she is older, she will have wonderful memories and will have benefitted from the activities she/we do. She won't matter to her if our house is the best decorated in the neighborhood, etc.....

I would much rather travel and have memories/experiences than things.

our home is decorated primarily with our pictures and the little things we have picked up in our travels!!!

:wizard:

Doer. Dh is a haver. We compromise and do things. :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

Doer! :goodvibes

We live in a pretty small house and have a lot less possessions compared to other people with our income.

We love camping, vacations, concerts, sports/activities for our kids, ect. Anything that keeps us occupied and entertained.

I would be torn between going crazy at the Coach outlet (haver) or going on a looong cruise (doer).
