Another thread about getting sick at Disney got me thinking.. Many posters said they are hand sanitizer users.
I want to know how many of you are regular users, seldom users, fanatic users, or never users?

i'm of the mind-set that i WANT germs, i want to build resistance to them, so i just wash my hands regularly and never use sanitizer.

I try to use it--but often forget and misplace the container.

So I am a seldom user.

I get exposed to enough germs--that when I use it b/c I don't want someone elses--I think it helps me more than it harms me.

I have used it in the past but I rarely use it, so I guess I'm a seldom user.

I'd sanitize my entire body if I could. I'm a germ FREAK! As a matter of fact if I could walk around in my very own protective bubble I would.

Im a hand-WASHER.

Ive never understood the Hand Sanitizing thing, when there's bathroom's to wash your hands, all over the darn place. :confused3

And the thought of just rubbing the germie's in / around with alcohol, doesnt seem right. Theyre still dirty... I dunno.

I wash - and follow with moisturizer. :teeth:

No, no, no!

Those people alternately amuse me and kind of tick me off!

Regular hand washing will take care of nasties in almost all situations. Regular exposure to germs is essential for a strong immune system.

Overuse of sanitzers contribute to resistant bacteria. Also, the production and consumption of all that junk sure doesn't help our environment any. Plus, they just look kind of dumb. I hate that new Lysol commercial with the woman spraying down her phone. What does she do--follow her entire family around with the can all day? :rotfl2:

(Disclaimer: to save everyone some time, OF COURSE I don't necessarily mean people with compromised immune systems/hospital workers/anyone else who may have a legitimate need for agressive germ control. I'm talking about your average, uptight Clorox Mom.)

I'm also a hand washer. After using the restroom (with soap AND water, I don't just run my hands under the water like I often see some do) and before meals is very imporant in preventing the spread of infection.

i'm a hand washer too. i love the feel of scrubbing away the yuck with warm soapy water. if a sink is not available i always have purell at the ready.

I'm a hand-washer. I only use hand-sanitizers if absolutely necessary (i.e.- no bathroom around). After we did an experiment with bacteria and hand santizers back in AP chem in high school I try to stay away! No super bacteria for me.

I have hand sanitizer but have never ever used it.
I'm a firm believer that in not keeping everything germ-free, you build up resistence against germs. I rarely get sick, thanks to my resistence :)

No, I wash hands frequently, but my DH sanitizes several times a day. He has always been a hand washing freak, but now that he's on high doses of Prednisone he's so much more susceptible to germs. I buy those little bottles of hand sanitizer from Bath & Body Shop when the go on sale and he has them stashed everywhere. :rotfl:

I'm a fanatic hand sanitizer user and I'm rarely ever sick. I work with children and can't run to the restroom to wash my hands every time a child rubs their runny nose and then grabs my hand, takes a pencil of my desk, or sneezes right on me when I'm helping them with homework.

I'm a hand washer, first and a moderate sanitizer second. When the kids get in the car after school, I hand them the sanitizer as I think schools are hot beds of germs. We also wash our hands when we get home from anywhere. We always wash our hands before eating. I'll admit, the kids tease me and liken me to the real estate boss guy in the Cat in the Hat movie (Jack from Will & Grace) where he has the sanitizer hooked onto his belt.

Actually there is not--sometimes there are just moments you need to wash your hands but you have no water and soap to do so. :confused3

The OP mentioned something about sanitizing in the parks - thats what I was referring to. Bathrooms everywhere.

I still dont like the sanitizer - I dont feel clean.

I wash my hands. I don't think hand sanitizers are a good idea as they contribute to the development of resistant bacteria.

I do not use hand sanitizers and I even have mild OCD. I am also a procrastinator!

I only use hand sanitizer if I touch something really gross and I don't have another choice. Otherwise, I'm a hand washer. Anyway, hand sanitizers really dry out my hands.
