This!I’m competitive when necessary but I can easily let things go too.
For me, it’s all about priorities and balance.
Over the years I have found those who feel like everything in life is some kind of 'competition' are annoying to be around. They always have to believe they are 'winning' and therefore everyone else is 'losing'. Where I work there are some people that feel like the more they can get away with, ignore company policies/rules, find ways to 'game' the system, somehow makes them a 'winner'. They tend to get a reputation as a goof off and no one wants to have anything to do with them.
I am struggling with this now. My coworker and supervisor at work have started interrupting me halfway through my statements to tell me I'm wrong even though I usually am not wrong. Which they don't realize because they didn't let me finish my statement. Compounded by the fact that my boss readily admits she doesn't think well on her feet so she is telling me I'm wrong when in reality I'm just 3 steps ahead of her in the thought process. No, some people take these things too far so it becomes very ugly to me.
Often, people press to be the one who gets to be right, whether or not they are actually correct has very little to do with things.
Sad this is going on for you right nowI am struggling with this now. It's getting so hard to deal with that I'm considering asking to transfer departments.
