Are we the only ones that don't make rope drop?

I guess we have never technically made RD, although maybe one day..

Only times we have come close was with a 30 min earlier breakfast reservation (8:30 for 9:00 RD), and we got out of breakfast at about 9:15, and another trip DD wanted one last ride on EE before we left for the day. So I rousted them out of bed for AM EMH at AK and we arrived just after 8:00am. They loved riding EE 4 times in a row, especially as we were leaving about 11:00 am so it made leaving not quite so hard.

I try to get there close to RD at least 1 day per trip, and it has huge advantages, but generally too hard to get all 6 of us out on a regular basis.

We have been to WDW 18 times (about 209 days - sounds odd that I know this but we were just discussing this a few days ago) and we have never once made rope drop.

I think we're all sleepy-heads so we don't really wake up too early. Our upcoming vacation is this March and I know we won't make it out the door before 8:30am and that only because I made breakfast ADRs at 9am. And we'll probably end up entering the parks at around 10:30am - 11am.

So, no you won't be the only one not making rope drop. :)

I have never seen a rope drop. Not when I was a kid, and not now that I'm an adult. My children will never see a rope drop. They will, in fact, remain blissfully ignorant of the fact that there is even such a thing as a "rope drop." If ever some day, when they are old enough to find out about such things on their own, they say, "Mom, let's get up early and go to this rope drop thingy!" I will say, "Go yourselves, children, for though I am reasonably certain you came from my womb, I am now severely questioning the identity of your father."
:thumbsup2

Totally agree! Never been. Never intend to go. Never taken a break and gone back to the room midday. Don't follow a touring plan. Don't look at crowd prediction numbers. Never have been able to go off-peak. We get there when we get there and close down the park every night. At this point I can't think of one thing we've wanted to do that we've missed. And we haven't had a day we didn't thoroughly enjoy.

We've been to WDW a hundred times. What's a rope drop? :rotfl2: People actually get up for such a thing? I'm going back. It'll keep.

That. ^^^^

We always do rope drop. My DH is usually done by 8pm and that's with a break in the afternoon, so we have to get there early. If no break, he is done by 4. He can't do late nights so if we don't get there early even in lower crowds, we won't get all that we want done. This Easter will be our first busy time trip, so hopefully those rope drops will help, as we will probably only spend about 6-8 hours at a park each day.

So, again I say thank you for not getting to the parks early and keep up the good work. :thumbsup2

No problem! And thanks to those folks who go early and don't stay late!

It's really whatever works for each person. There's no right or wrong way, there's just what works for you.

A big "Thank you" to all who sleep in.

You're welcome! ;)

If I'm staying on property, I typically don't do rope drop because to me, it's not a vacation if I have to get up with an alarm every day. I get enough of that going to work. In fact, I typically hit the parks about lunch time, grab a bite to eat, and then see what I want to see. If there is something special going on, then I can be persuaded to set the alarm - but generally, no.

If I'm doing a day trip, then I generally try to get there for rope drop, because I tend to leave for home by mid-afternoon. But I do more overnight stays than day trips.

Maybe it's because I've been there so much, but I just don't feel the pressure to see and do it all. I'm happy if I get in a favorite attraction or two, have a nice meal, and do a little souvenir browsing. No commando touring for me!

We haven't made rope drop since the AK opened.

Wait--we did once just to get into the Studios to see Toy Story Mania before the wait became 2 hours.

Doubt we'll do that again.

We now usually wander over to the parks after 9:00-9:30 AM and after a full breakfast.
