My parents never talked to me about any of that stuff. I got SCREAMED at about cigarettes when I was about 14 and my dad found a pack in my dresser drawer. I learned about body parts and menstruation and stuff from friends and a book
. I never had a sex talk, but I was smart enough to use condoms. Can you imagine being a teenager and having to tell your mother that the condom broke!?
Asking her to make a gyno appointment for me was pretty much our sex talk.
My mom works in labor and delivery so you would think it would be pretty easy to talk about things like premarital sex, but I guess it's not. And me being the third child should have been even easier. I'm pretty sure she never had a talk with my pregnant teenage sister either.
(the one who was going to wait for marriage to have sex
)
I will be having talks with my daughter all throughout her life I hope. She is only two and already asks about different body parts.
