Are we Members?

My wife and I took the tour of SSR. When we got home we called w/in 72 hours the $10 off incentive and put a deposit on a contract, knowing that we could back out and get our deposit back.

What we didn't realize is that along with the contract, they sent a membership kit and some goodies too (like an embossed picture of SSR). We also received temporary membership cars and just last week got postcards with PINs for the DVC site.

Well since then, we have decided to go the resale route and are starting the process of buying a 200 pt HH contract. We'd figure we would alternate summers at HH and WDW and wanted the 11 month booking advantage at HH. Plus HH points are cheaper than OKW and have low MF's. But also, we are able to get 200 points for roughly the cost of 175 SSR points, which means we can stay in 1BR more nights w/o having to borrow.

We plan to back out of the SSR contract, but we're going to wait until the HH passes ROFR. My questions are as follows:

When we go to closing, do we use our Membership # from the SSR contract?

Will our HH contract end in .001, even though we haven't executed the SSR one?

Do we send the SSR membership kit back? (They only sent a FedX packet for the contract.)

Will we receive a new Membership kit? I'm assuming part of the $100 transfer fee pays for that.

Will I be assigned the same guide? I'm sure he'll be disappointed losing the commission.

To answer your topic question - yes, you are considered a member by DVC. You have a member number, are in the DVC computer and can make a reservation.

If you purchase a resale, you will most likely inherit the original contract number of the original purchaser - it will not be an add-on of your SSR purchase.

You will retain the same vacation guide - unless you contact DVC and request another.

DVC will, most likely, not expect to get the membership kit back from the SSR purchase, but you won't get any similar kit for your resale purchase - unless your seller decides to send his to you. You will eventually receive membership cards and basic DVC information for the resale purchase from DVC - don't expect anything for several weeks though.

I would also double check again the period of time you have to rescind your SSR purchase without penalty. You may find you have contracts at both HH and SSR!
