Okay so I know its good to plan and all......but are we mad booking to go back to WDW for September 2011, before we have even gone on this years trip in Ocotber 2010??

Have just had some quotes off Virgin for a potential trip 15th Sept 2011 for 2 weeks, 2 adults and 2 children for offsite. We love offsite so wouldn't go anywhere else but there is £250 difference between Hawthorn Suites (1-bed apartment, been there twice already so love the proximity to Downtown Disney and the parks)(£3060) and a 3-bedroom villa (would love the extra room and our own pool but not the distance away so much)(£3293).

Anyone got any thoughts before I have to decide? Are we just mad going every year - I can see the looks in work already - you're going to Florida again? To the same place?

Need some encouragement off some other Disney-obsessed lot!

I can't advise you on the accommodation, but I can assure you that you are perfectly sane. :) You really have to book as soon as you spot a good deal as these days it is a case of here today, gone tomorrow - often never to return!

If it makes you feel any better, I booked this coming October trip off the plane from Orlando, badly jetlagged and the suitcases still locked, fresh from Disney :lmao: Do I regret it? Not at all!

Agree with this!

It's not like you've never been to Florida before and are booking blind or anything. You know what you're going to get and you know you're going to like it - if it's a good deal, go for it!

As for work, well... If it makes you feel better though you could go for the villa as while it might sound a little crazy and the opposite of what your instinct says to do, there really is a different atmosphere to staying in a villa. Disney is fun (I love it, I'm DVC so I'm always on site normally) but being offsite does encourage you to be a little bit more adventurous and Florida has a lot to offer...so it's not *quite* the same, right? ;)

Definately *not* mad!! :goodvibes

We booked on 2nd June with Virgin Holidays to fly out on 15th SEPTEMBER 2011! :goodvibes We'll be on the 1pm flight (VS015)

If I had those prices and had to chose I would go for the villa for sure - but we love villa holidays compared to hotels anyway so my opinion is a little biased.
And you are definately not crazy for wanting to do this. I have plenty of friends and family who have timeshares in Europe, or do the same thing year after year by going and sitting on a beach somewhere in the day and a bar at night. OK the country may change each time but they are essentially only seeing sand and sea for 2 weeks - which the last time I checked looked pretty similar in Ibiza in Ibiza or Cyprus. Add that to the fact that the first thing they look for when they have checked into their hotel is a full English breakfast and Sunday roast and I refuse to listen to their critisiscm (sp?)
Having been to Florida a few times now I can honestly say we have never had the same holiday twice and that is just one of the many reasons we continue to return.

Oh Lordy..... BOOK BOOK BOOK:cool1:

I can't advise on Hotel/Villa i'm afraid as this year is our 1st trip, so nothing to compare

Oh and we are going in October too!! The 15th  for 3 weeks :woohoo:

I bet all those people who comment that you go every yr to the same place," why do you want to spend your holiday in theme parks" have never been to Florida themselves! I've had this for yrs from my own family, especially my brothers, one went to florida a few weeks ago as one of his friends was getting married and he was a witness- guess what- he absolutely loved it and now is planning to go back for xmas.
I would also go for the villa, depending where it is, we like the extra space, the pool etc
Might see you there, we are planning to go around the 21st september :)

I could not care less what people say or think!

Mum and Dad go to Las Vegas 2/3 times a year and NEVER leave the hotel:confused3

MIL and FIL go to Goa 1/2 times a year for 3 weeks

And they think I'M crazy :rolleyes1

The look on my kids faces, the absolute joy that pours out of them and the AMAZING time we, as a Family have, makes sure that we will be returning to Disney again and again :dance3:

Ha! I have spent most of my life doing the opposite of what everyone else things is right, normal or any of the other mediocre nonsense! If it's YOUR holiday YOU pay for it, YOU plan, pack and travel, YOU have the time of YOUR life and YOU bring home YOUR happy memories that YOU cherish forever. I don't see anything about what other people need requiring to be added to the above. :rolleyes1

The thing about opinions is that everyone is entitled to one, and everyone usually has one. Some of our's is different. SO? :confused3

I feel very depressed if I get back from holiday and don't have the next one booked - it takes the pain from getting home away a little! BOOK!!!!

I certainly wouldn't pay any attention to anyone else regarding where I spend my holiday and money!!! :goodvibes I sometimes start to justify it to people, and then wonder what the heck I'm doing!!

:lmao:

It's like all the millions of people who love to go camping. I can't think of anything worse :headache: But as long as I don't have to go with them, it really doesn't bother me at all and I will happily sit and listen to their stories of all the fun they had together.

Now back to the holiday: I don't need the space of a villa on holiday but for proportionately little extra, the villa would tempt me if I did. What is making you hesitate? Is it the location or the extra cash?

I am planning next year like mad!! Continental will release while we are in Florida :scared1: as I want to go in July next year. That is bugging me soooooo much!

Enjoy your planning and don't listen to any negativity.

Thanks to everyone who replied -definitely made me feel better about it all!

Have now booked for next year - did go for Hawthorn suites in the end as just thought I could put that £300 towards other meals while we out there and it felt more of a bargain!! And the lazy side of me was liking not cooking breakfast and someone else making the beds!

As an added bonus, also got "free" Universal tickets with Virgin for next year so that saved a few hundred pound too!

Feeling really good now its booked - lovely feeling to know its all sorted!!:goodvibes

Rohais - we are also on the 1pm flight - see you on there!

Which hawthorm suites?

I have stayed in Sea World HSuites, going to stay in US HSuites, but i'm thinking this is the LBV hawthorn suites?

Grats on the booking!

Yes it is the LBV Hawthorn Suites - we have stayed there before so know there is plenty of room for us all and the kids like the breakfast so all a winner!

Rohais - we are booked into the VRoom too!! Small world eh?!

Definately! Thankfully not with the theme tune tho! :thumbsup2

We're doing the twilight check in, and then staying overnight at the Premier Inn...I can't handle the stress of checking in that morning :scared1:

Very excited! First trip for just DF and I :goodvibes
