Are we gonna freeze?

Was just talking to my husband and realized that I forgot about the climate change. We live in the desert. It is extremely hot here most the year. Our trip is planned for Oct 2-5 and it will still be in the high 90's here if not 100's. Are we gonna freeze there? We will still be wearing shorts and t-shirts...I am guessing that will not be comfortable for us there. On our last DLR trip we went in the beginning of June...it seemed a lil chilly to us in the morning and at night but the days were great. Will October be like that?

It'll be chilly in the mornings and the evening. Unless you go during the Santa Anna wind time.

October can be very warm, especially if the Santa Ana winds are blowing (as PP stated). We had to run the AC in the house on Halloween two years ago because it got so hot. I'd check the weather when your trip is closer, but temps could be in the 80s, at least during the middle of the day. Mornings and evenings will cool off considerably.

I'm pretty sure you won't freeze. The average temps for October aren't all that cool. Actually, it could be quite warm, especially during the day. I'd say at most you might want a sweatshirt or light jacket in the morning/evening. But it's really hard to say this far in advance. Sounds like the weather there has been out of the ordinary lately.

The 80's to us is not warm..lol. It only gets down to the high 60's here even in the winter in the daytime and to us that is chilly(used to live in the midwest and I remember that 70 was shorts weather). So, I guess I will pack normally and add jackets that we can take off or put on if need be.

I think you're smart to pack something just in case. :thumbsup2

We went to DL in August of 2005 and I was freezing--and we're from CT! Everyone kept saying to me "Wow, You're from CT. You must be so hot here." I was crying for my jeans and wore a sweatshirt the entire trip (We were on a quick trip and headed for Hawaii--perhaps I should have done more homework about CA weather). I found CT humidity to be worse than any sun/heat I found in CA. I was thankful for the ability to layer my clothes.

Hard to tell ... we went mid-October last year and it rained on us a lot, so we wore our jeans and sweatshirts much of the time (so much for seeing our cute Disney T-shirts -- I am wearing my hot-pink hoodie in about 75% of the pictures!) Other years visiting So Cal in the fall we've gotten by with normal Arizona clothes and just a sweatshirt in the evenings.

I know you will think it's cooler more quickly than someone from the north.

It's hard to say what you'll feel because weather varies so much and this far out, this year's weather is unknown. Here is a link showing weather data for those dates, from 1995-2009.

Weather patterns have been SO weird this year. I have a feeling we will have a long summer. The last 2 years I went in November and it was in the high 70s low 80s during the day. 50s and 60s and night. You should be fine with tshirts and shorts during the day but will want a sweatshirt and jeans for nighttime.

October is a very odd month. It is almost always dry. It can be very warm. The Santa Ana winds are an ever-present concern in late summer and Fall. Hence, all the wildfires (dry conditions + winds + heat = fire) every year, which can affect the air quality.

But October is unpredictable - it's a month where, literally, I have experienced crazy heat waves in the upper 90's/100-degree range (in 2008, for example), and that is too much for me to bear in DLR, where it always feels hotter anyway. And then there are other October days where it is nice and pleasant, in the low 70's, with a nice breeze in the air, and it actually seems more like Fall and not summer. And there are still other days where it may be downright chilly and blustery, and even rain quite a bit. October is a wild card!

We were there Halloween weekend last year and since I'm a weather whimp and get cold easily I packed jeans and t shirts plus a sweatshirt and jacket for night time. I was begging for shorts and wished we'd brought swim suits...but was happy to have the sweatshirt for after 8-9 pm.

As all have said the weather here varies so much. Oct. (especially early Oct. )can be some of our nicest weather. Even if the Santa Anas kick in. In fact, if I was a betting person I would bet that Oct. this year will be warmer than the first part of July has been. We are still having June Gloom, right into July. We were at DLR on Tuesday, the 6th and the sun didn't come out until about 4 p.m. Good news was if you wanted to ride GRR, you only had a 5 minute wait!:lmao:

Definitely pack for all kinds of weather-from the 60's to the 100's.:sunny: And also some possible rain.:umbrella: Then you should be covered!

Okay, it is like 110 where I am now.

We were in DL 2 years ago in October and it was 105 degrees during the day, which was unseasonable for Anaheim. It does, however, cool off at night. We usually bring sweat shirts or light jackets and put them in a locker for later when we need them.

We're in the desert, too, and went in Oct a couple years ago. We all wore shorts & tees and were just fine during the day. However, it gets chilly (freezing to us! lol) in the evening, and we needed jackets and hot cocoa. :)

Hi!! we were there last year October 7th for 8 nights! DH & DD had to buy hoodies and i bought a jacket. It was really warm during day, but night was cooler. The day we drove up to Universal Hollywood, it rained really heavy for the whole day!!

We still had a great time, and dont think the cooler weather spoiled it for us.

Have a great time x
